Hi mr af.
Im no soil expert but i believe a PH of 6 is too low for that medium.
In soil you should be between 6.5 and 7.
Im sure a soil expert will be along to give you more info.

Hey Mr AF, that looks like magnesium deficiency to me. Please bare in mind I'm only 4 weeks into my first grow but my leaves are identical to yours there because I didnt catch it early enough, if you go to my profile and find my started threads theres some discussions about how to combat the effects, I used Epsom Salts (Advice given by other forum users) and although you probably wont get a full recovery of the leaves the plant will continue to grow and all new growth will get back to normal colour. Hope this helps! A

magnesium doesnt start from the tips though does it? im having similar problems with low ph and i think magnesium is being locked out. (dont take my word for it though, im new and still learning. wait for the pros) ill attatch a couple pics of mine so you can compare.

I'm in the same boat mate - not a lot of experience, I'm sure someone more qualified will come along soon that can help you both! In my short experience mg def did start at the tips and slowly progresses through the leaf if not treated quickly enough. I only suggested it cos those first pictures look identical to my plants (all in my journal) but again, I'm not qualified to diagnose..In your pics anonamoose, i'm not 100% but yellowing/fading of the whole leaf is N def I think, I was told to up my feed nute if they started to look pale - hope some of this helps :peace:

i think ive sorted my problem. and if your ph is below 6.5 in soil magnesium will not be absorbed by the roots, so it appears as a deficiency when its a lockout. i just flushed my plant with 8 litres of 6.8 water and the soil ph has risen from 5.8 to 6.7, so im hoping in the next few days the yellowing will stop and ill be back on track! PLEASE let me know if i am wrong lol.

Thanks for the help lads, just bought some epsom salt nd got a tub of black molasses while I was out hopefully the salt will work

Rough Calculation Guide:

Here's some good info on ph.....
If your runoff pH is higher than your starting pH, use this equation to determine your soil pH:*
Soil pH = Runoff pH + Difference

If your runoff pH is lower than your starting pH, us this equation:
Soil pH = Runoff pH - Difference.

For example, say your the starting pH of your solution before it goes in is 6.5 and the pH of your runoff is 7.0. The difference is +0.5, so using the above equation:
Soil pH = 7.0 + 0.5*
Soil pH = 7.5

If your starting pH is 6.5 and your runoff is 6.0, your difference is -0.5 and using the above equation:
Soil pH = 6.0 - 0.5
Soil pH = 5.5
