New Grower Here we grow(first grow ever)

Well it's day 21 and things are still running pretty smoothly. I was going to give them there first taste of nutes today but the soil is still moist so I'm going to have to hold off a few days. Will post pics when I get home from work. Peace and everyone have a great Monday.

congrats on your first grow and glad to hear things are going smoothly, makes all the difference in the world when you do your homework first and people here are great ones to learn from, i should know i was in your shoes not long ago, only on my 4th grow or so now but what i've seen a learned thru watching all these other grows has been invaluable. and once you get one or two under your belt you'll feel much more comfortable but welcome to the club. and glad to have as many people help over grow prohibition as possible. especially in the South!

Your right PrezDickie we in the south need to push more for MMJ and legalization but I got a feeling the south will be the last states to push for it considering we live in the Bible Belt and what not. I would like to see more effort but hey what can you do. Well it's day 21 and I'm anxious to give them their first real feeding. Both strains seem to be doing well I'm getting a little worried about the NL I tried to tie it down so if anyone has any tips or if anyone sees that I'm not doing it right please let me know. The jet47 on the other hand is doing so good right now I haven't had one problem with her. I would definitely recommend this strain to a new grower. Well let me know what you think and thanks everyone for checking in on my grow. And I'm really sorry about the pics in know they are sideways but once you click on them do they show up normal? First pic is the group pic, next three are jet47 and last three are NL

Well finally got my ph meter today and checked some water I had sitting for 24 hours. Ph was at 7.6 so other than using the ph down is there something else I can use?

Just use the ph down, but be careful you don't need much.Maybe 5ml.per gallon to start,if you need to go down more add small amounts at a time.Takes a little practice to figure what you need. If you are adding nutes check ph after the nutes are in.

drop a cheap airstone in there and bubble that water up for 24 hours, then a couple drops of white vinegar or lemon juice will put you right in the 6.5 ph range.:2cents:
that little aquarium bubbler gives your water tons of extra oxygen and helps some of the nasties to gas off.

oh man...beautiful plants:clap::clap:

Thanks for stopping in guys. I don't have any ph down at the moment and well I'm broke until Friday. It's def an investment ill be making soon but the ladies are needing to be watered in the next day or two so I'm going to try the lemon juice and see how that works for me. Thanks for the tips ill be looking into getting an air stone as well.

I think you want viniger...this is by JM.

Vinegar moves PH from alkaline to Acid...
5 ml (1 tsp) of vinegar to 1 gallon of Water moves PH down by 1+/-
(ie: ph at 7.0 ---> add 5ml vinegar... stir thoroughly ----> Retest ---> PH at 6.0 now)

I don't remember the baking soda one because its been a long time since I had an acid water condition.. I will say this... proceed with extreme caution in regards to quantity.. I'd say start with 1/4 tsp to 10 gallons... and make sure to wait 30 minutes of strring agitation time as baking soda is a very slow buffer... Dolomitic lime works as well and can be used a little more liberally and has the added benefit of calcium and Magnesium addition as well... but its even slower on ph swings.

Of course, there are water amendment chemicals specifically for growing hydroponically etc. it might better serve you to use ph UP solution if you don't wanna screw around a lot and need to make adjustments.

One thing I can say is equally as important an investment as the seeds you buy and nutrients you use and light you use is...
A GOOD PH METER
I personally have the Hannah Instruments HI 98129
This meter was about $120 US and does PH, TDS, and EC as well as on board temperature compensation (and readout) as well as have a replaceable probe (Can u guess what usually fails over time on a ph meter? yup.. the probe The meter comes with the tool for removing it and I understand the probes are only about $50 US)
