in a 40 x 40 you may get away with just that 300w (really it only pulling 150w from the wall) but if you want to see more bud It wouldn't hurt to add another light... before you spend your cash on another light, if you don't mind me asking what will your budget be if you decide to get another?

@Slater to keep things consistent Probably get another Mars Hyrdo 300W so £60-80. I originally was growing in my shed but as temps are dropping to below 10*C in the evening I have moved it indoors. But was thinking if I get another light just run them 24hrs lights on (in the shed for heat) as they are auto flowering so I believe they don't need darkness. I would also have to change the tent to be wider as 2 plants wont fit in that well without a lot of trimming and grooming

you can run your lights 24hrs with auto with no problems. I know many a grower on here who does. Good idear to help keep the space heated... when I'm growing auto's, I run 20 / 4 in the winter and 18 / 6 in the summer

To maybe help heat your space I would get a tube heater or 2 (120w or 180w) for in side the tent and hook them up to thermostat (inkbird make good one). And maybe a small oil rad to heat the space around your tent... I grow in a loft, battling temp are one of my super powers... another thing you can do is place a fan above you light. LED's radiate heat upwards and by having small fan blowing down on the light and into the canopy you can utilize that wasted heat before it gets extracted.

on the light go for it, makes sense...but can I make a recommendation... before you buy another mars 300w "burple" (and if you keep this hobby up, you will want to up grade very quickly) for only an extra £50 you can get your self an entry level DIY kit with some of the best diodes on the market... Take my word for it, it will piss all over your Mars, even 2 mars ... add it in with your Mars and you will have all the light needed.

There are a few company's out there with HLG (US based) being the leaders in the market but for easy here is a UK company doing the same thing (they pcopied HLG) I recommend the one of the 135w kits - https://invisiblesunled.co.uk/collections/quantum-board-kits
