Live Stoner Chat Hi from a Greenhorn

Hey guys, been lurking in this forum and figured i'd hop on the thank everyone for the wealth of information here. Hoping to transition from a greenhorn to a greenthumb.

I have virtually no experience at all growing other than a few outdoor plants that I planted way too late this year. Needless to say I am expecting some setbacks. As far as equipment goes, all I have ordered are 2 3500 autocobs. I plan on converting an old white cabinet thats 1 1/2x3x6 into a grow closet. As of right now Im think i will use an autopot filled will organics based on pop22's thread in the beginners grow forum. Not sure on variety but my family prefers sativas.

Anyway thats the gist of it. Really wanted to say that ive really been enjoying the reading and that you all very much for the great wealth of information. It reall shows that this communty loves what they are doing and sharing it so others can too.

Hey @Clarky and welcome out of the shadows.

Sounds like you have really done you home work, @pop22 's threads are great you can learn so much from them, I read all of his back to back when I started. Great move on the autocob perfect introduction into the world of LED lighting.

Get a journal going, love to jump on in and give you hand for that first time indoor grow. Tag my when you do ( @Slater )

have fun, here we saved ya some on the welcome joint

Morning AFN. Thanks for the nice welcome. I have noticed there isn't much hype over the Durban Poison. I am going try the Lime and get an indica strain for my second. As for a grow journal that sounds like a good idea. Gonna need all the input I can get. I will start taking pics when I get my gear together. Today I am heading in to the city to get my soil ingredients. I'm a bit curious about @pop22 s mix. There wasn't any perlite mentioned and I have seen it being used with other organic mixes. Also, what do you guy use to cover the airdome nowadays? I have read differing methods on this too. Dunno, maybe they are no good for organic. Anyways, thanks again and have a great day.

I have a question for you outdoor photo experts. I have a beautiful spot to grow at the family farm, We have a fairly large pond surrounded by hills on the north and south. Only problem is the soil is hard clay. I can get some sheep manure and I'm wondering if I should work that in this fall or wait until spring. I will take some pics of the location and post later today. TY

Welcome to afn!

Flat white paint is within 2-3% of the reflectivity of white poly. And cheaper! Easy to give a touch up coat now and then also.

Sativa strains can be finicky, a Sativa leaning hybrid would be better to start with as a beginner.

Gotta say I am a bit surprised how expensive everything is. Hopefully prices will come down with legalization. 1 quick question if someone wants to chime in. Is white ok for growing or should i get some mylar?

My first grow was on a tight budget and even then, setup cost me $700. I probably have 10 times that invested now, BUT, I've grown pounds and pounds of weed all total over the last 4 1/2 years. It has all, long since paid for itself!

When using coco, perlite is not needed. I've run this mix in small to very large pots without a problem. Also, if you have to dispose of soil, no telltale white specks.. I've heard of people busted because the used perlite in outdoor gardens!

LOTS of compost mixed into the clay should make for a great soil!
