Hi all,

I figured I'd start a discussion in order to bounce around some ideas about CBD-rich varieties of cannabis.

Does anyone, like myself, have issues with anxiety/psychosis when using cannabis, or certain varieties of cannabis? Thinking on it in hindsight, I think I've always had anxiety, but I think it became accentuated with everyday cannabis use. However, thinking back to the types of cannabis I was smoking back then, they were often very high THC strains such as Sour Diesel, etc. I think it increased my hyperactivity and made me edgy/paranoid. I stopped smoking for around 9 months and then began to feel better when using cannabis.

However, currently I've been looking into certain varieties of cannabis that are comparably weaker to the top-shelf, high THC strains. For example, some strains from CBD crew are advertised as causing "no anxiety" and have THC and CBD levels evenly matched at ~5%.

What are your experiences with this topic? Have you come into contact with enjoyable, low-THC and high CBD strains? Any recommendations? Autoflowering strains?

Thanks for reading :)

lowryder #1 was the first commercial auto, and it was low in thc. it is still sold at the attitude. i would look into it if you want high cbd. there is one more optioni know of, http://sensiseeds.com/en/cannabis-seeds/sensi-seeds/ruderalis-indica it is regular and it says it is low THC high CBD. maybe buy this and make some seeds too.

though it seems to me like you just want an indica strain, not a high cbd strain. 100% indica strains should not give you anxiety... if you want indica check out "hindiana" from seeds of life. perfect for a cfl grow. i would try all three of these if you are in the market. Usually CBD is for medical patients, especially those making concentrates like the oil that supposedly cures cancer (i am a bit skeptical of that but whatever)

Lots of "Cheese" strains have a high CBD content and most are Indica or Indica dominant, but they have a moderate THC content. I was in a similar situation to yours GreenKnight but I haven't had any problems with Cheese strains and they never had a bad effect on me (but everyone's body is different). Good luck in your quest for new strains

Thanks for the insightful replies folks!

I'm interested in hearing about your experience, Pigeon. I haven't had any issues as of lately, except for my first time back on the herb when my girlfriend wanted to try it for the first time, but insisted she didn't want to inhale anything!.... So I had to whip up my famous batch of Firecrackers (pot, peanutbutter, crackers and an oven for you folks that can't be bothered to do any serious cooking!!). Half a gram each split between two crackers each got me soaring uncomfortably after a few hours, and I needed to munch down some chocolate to get those endorphins (and my blood sugar) pumped up. Definitely a heady strain, whatever it REALLY was....though I was told OG kush. I looked at the bag and knew it wasn't, and it was going to ruin me. She wasn't feeling so great either after the two hour mark, and stayed in bed all night. Needless to say, she enjoys the more subtle and gradual effects of smoking now :).

Otherwise I've been good to go with indica strains, and am glad to hear that Cheese strains are high CBD since I'm growing some Little Cheese now. I was wondering about the effects of CBD crew strains by comparison -- just extreme couch-lock and limited head high?

Panic attacks SUCK...I can only imagine what it must feel like to have a stroke! Holy shit, it sure feels like that is what the onset of a heart attack would feel like...

Thanks for the recommendations guys!

I would imagine half a gram each would make you and your girlfriend feel like that or anyone for that matter because the effects are something like three or five times stronger than smoking the same amount of weed, plus eating weed would on average make you high for around six hours when smoking it around two hours so you could of overdosed. I had a panic attack and my vision went completely blank while queuing in the supermarket with a bottle of coke for around five minuets (everyone thought I was drunk and everything), that was after a fat joint of Rocky (hashish, resin.. everyone calls it different things lol). And I didn't feel right for days so we both probably overdosed on our experiences . I'm going to get some auto cheeses in for the next grow and see what there like, keep me updated on your grow GreenKnight I would like to see how yours turn out . I would presume they would have a heavy couch-lock high being a cheese.
May peace and big buds be with you

Watching some footage of spannabis(filmed in barcelona) video, most strains that claim `high` CBD, still rarely contain more than about 1-1.5%! Alot of seed companies concentrate on THC(not a bad thing)%. Several `well known` companies admitted that only CBD Crew had concentrated their breeding to achieve high CBD levels in their strains(cos most of their customers wanted the`high` that THC delivered! Marketing strains as high CBD was basically a PR move! But...several did say they that may start to breed strains with higher CBD%`s in the future, as they aknowledged there was a growing demand(hence DP + CBD crew joint venture, well done Dutch Passion btw:clap:) for a more levelled buzz! From what I remember, I think Scott(CBD Crew) said they had noticed a gap in the market and they had spent approx 7 years(breeding) to get to where they are now!(They also produce their own generic version of `sativex`(at 1/10th of the price of the original!), sorry, moving off topic. :smokebuds:

im growing royal queens dance world at the moment, it is ment to be, 8% thc and 6% cbd, ive also ordered juanita la lagrimosa from reggae seeds, its 6% thc and 8% cbd, juanita is one of the plants used to breed dance world.
both of these varieties claim to have an uplifting, motivated, inspiring feeling. but how can they do that with such high cbd? because they are rich in thcv, which multiplies the effect of thc by a ridiculasly large amount, not sure if im right about that last bit, open to correction, but the main thing is that there is a lot of cannabinoids in weed, and i think we all can agree that a healthy cannabinoid profile is one which contains a large amount of different cannabinoids, even the ones we know little about or have never heard of, ALL HAVE A CONTRIBUTION TO THE EFFECT.
Also its worth pointing out that thc is an extremely powerful stimulent, and is not ment to be consumed without the other cannabinoids to neutralise it ant basically tell it what to do, i have smoked a lot of stuff that is just pure thc, here in ireland thats about the only type of weed you can get here unless you grow.
but when you smoke a high thc strain late in the day, whether its sativa or indica, which seem to be just as high in thc as sativas, and in a lot of cases even higher without enough cbd to counteract the stimmulating effects, its a lot like drinking coffee before you go to bed, or even red bull in most cases. this stimulant effect will effect your sleep pattern negatively, and you will need to smoke a sativa the next day to wake you up. only as each day goes by your brain is getting tireder and the stimulent combined with this tiredness will cause anxiety, eg loud noises sound louder and more piercing in your ears, concentration is poor, and memery loss.
i believe that this is the main reason why cannabis is associated with memery loss, its actually sleep deprivation. i have a terrible memery but smoking a mild sativa really makes it better, helps me function, just try and stay away from it before bed or late in the evening, hopefully high cbd strains like juanita will aid restful sleep after the high has worn off.
i suffer from anxiety myself and i think smoking the right weed at the right time will make it better, but smoking the wrong weed at the wrong time will make it worse
but about the indicas gowing about now, some of them are too high in thc to be an evening smoke, but in reality not high enough in cbd to really be indica. when i see these strains in the seed banks i just think, commercial weed, not medicinal.
hopefully with cannabis legalised in colorado and washington state, there will be som proper research done into what effect these other cannabinoids actually have.
hope this helps

AND ONE MORE THING EVERYTHING WORKS BETTER IN MODERATION
LESS IS ALWAYS MORE
cannabis can be you best friend if you stick to that rule
try seeing how little it takes to actually get high, you will be amazed.
take a small hit and let it down till it stars to wear off a bit.
also nicotine caffine alcohal and sugar will have an effect on the high, if you remove those things then see what its like when spliff is the only thing acting on your system.
eating whole foods and staying away from empty carbs will help with anxiety. a lot of people who suffer from anxiety have unbalanced blood suger.
I ALSO AM NOT 100% SURE IF I KNOW WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT, SO BE SURE TO TAKE ALL INTO ACCOUNT AND MAKE UP YOUR OWN MIND ABOUT WHATS BEST FOR YOU.
IM JUST A USERNAME THOUSANDS OF MILES AWAY, I COULD BE A MONKEY THAT CAN TYPE FOR ALL YOU KNOW
