First time grower evaluating tools for a 2x2 indoor grow.

Would you suggest the HLG or SpiderFarmer mentioned in the title?

I like the HLG but I am worried about damage to the diodes without coverage like the SF1000 has.

The SF is also cheaper with similar light and spectral output to the HLG.

Looking to stay in this general light spectrum/wattage level if you would suggest something different.

Please let me know, thank you!

both good choices i wouldnt worry about diode damage just be carefull and dont touch them id say hlg if you have the money and you want no quality problems . the sf1000 is a great light for the money only seen one bad review so far from a bad diode but thats 1 out maybe 50 iv seen here or on youtube

They both look great for a 2x2, I doubt that you could go wrong with either one. Ditto for similar design from Mars Hydro. One of the panels I put together with screwins would also do the job for less than half the cost. Good luck with the grow. :pighug:

I want to recommend Mars TS1000

Both will get the job done, however...

The HLG is better quality with ALOT more light output. 100 vs 150 watts and the diodes on the HLG are the best binned ones that Samsung can offer meaning if you turn down that HLG board to 100 Watts it will still be outputting more light due to more efficient diodes(particularly the extra reds). Spectrum is quite different as well, way more red on the HLG. Also HLG boards are put together by Samsung themselves...

That's why the HLG costs more, because you get more.

That being said, i switched to COB's personally and no looking back, i am killing it with these things. So i'll throw a vote in for the AutoCOB, might want to check those out as well.

@sirsmokealot the autocobs seem to only be 55w available. Looking for one light 3500k range and 100-150 watts any other suggestions?

I believe they are 60 watts, you'd need 2 to match the other lights output. But in a 2x2 and growing autos even 1 will do the trick, can always add another one down the line. Or buy 1 now and veg your plants out and buy another in a month when they hit flower. Check out the AutoCob section on this forum for more info on the light.

Check on youtube for "MIGRO" he does great unbias reviews of HLG, Mars, and Spider farmer. He puts each light under the same test and posts the results. My last light purchase was the SF 1000 based on his review and because it was the best priced at the time of my purchase. (black Friday deal I think $160 Canadian). I own a Mars cob and and 3 @BigSm0 autocobs as well. In my personal experience the autocobs @65 watts out perform the SF1000 and the Mars cob running @100watts. The only downside for me on the autocobs is the shipping cost to Canada and the exchange rate.

@BigSm0 I would love to see you send a cob to Shane from "Migro" to test. It would be great to have a par map for your light. He ships them back if you ask.
