Hey everyone, just wanted to show off my first grow and get started with my first Journal! For this grow I will be using Short Stuff Seeds Short Stuff #1. The Box itself is 24"x15"x 24" both intake and outtake fans and a 125w CFL. I will be using more lights as side lighting as the grow gets going

For Nutes I have the FoxFarm Trio and soil the FoxFarm Ocean Forest.

I guess we can consider this day 1 (yay

) I have the seed soaking in water for 24 hours and then will be moving it to paper towels if it does not pop in that amount of time. The seed will be planted in a small pot to begin with and then transplanted into the bigger container seen above and will live its life in that container. I will be using LST to help keep her short and bushy.

Im looking forward to growing with you guys and learning all the wonderful knowledge you have to offer!

Update Day 2-

My little girl sprouted over night, socked in water for about 22-23 hours. (sorry forgot to get a taproot photo) I got her planted in her new home for 2-3 weeks before I move her to the bigger and final container for the rest of the grow.

Any tips to keep my little seedling happy?

Dont kill It.

No fert don't over water....keep it from stretching.

Thank you! I don't plan on any ferts until I get it into its bigger/final home. The lights are about 4-5 inches away until she pops then I will move them closer!

I think I might of added a little too much water when I just planted her but I will let it dry out before I water again. Whats a good rule to go by when it comes to watering?

Thanks for the reply!

I stick my little finger into the soil to my knuckle if its cool yer good. The soil seperaating from the side of the pot is good time to water.

Hi hod, Welcome to AFN. Sounds like you're off to a good start. :tiphat:

Thank you, quick question! How much water should I be giving it? I know to go off when the soil gets dry but how much should I actually be using?

on watering, I would lift the pot now and feel the weight of it, let it go a few days to dry out and lift it again. If it feels lite and the top is dry, give it a bit of water and feel how it weighs when wet, small pots are a PIA for the finger test IMO. Weight of pot is usually a better indicator, it should feel like there is nothing in it when dry.:check: Goes for bigger pots too.
