I just have to get this off my chest.

I am in the e-cig business. One of the main reasons I have switched to just selling juice is because it has been such a hard time getting batteries since they are banned on most airlines now because of a possible explosion risk.

Malaysian airlines was one of those airlines that would carry them... I read now that they are admitting to lithium ion batteries being in the cargo (didn't specifically say e-cig batteries). It makes me sick to think that my industry had something to do with this...

I don't think they will ever no what happened unless they can find the black box.I hardly think a little battery like that could take a big plane like that down.

One last thing before I go... This is going to sound VERY petty considering the tragedy. I can tell you that there isn't one e-cig battery made in the United States, not one! Not sure about other countries. This includes vape-pen batteries, Pax batteries, and the like as well. If air shipping is froze, which it MUST be if this is the case, everything in the vape context will come to a standstill... The industry NEEDS to find a way to ground ship these items. If there is no safe way to air mail these then another way has to be found.

Having a more worldly view of things happens as we grow my friend.

You didin't do anything to further a disaster. You were trying to make a living, and you were not able to forsee something like that happening. Besides, I would think cell phones would be more likely to be left on than an ecig.

As an alcoholic, I have hurt many people in my past. But I cannot relive every sin. I can apologize, and make amends, but I have to move on and grow. The best way to set things right. Is to live your life from this point on doing the right things. Of which, it seems you were on your path to doing anyways, or you wouldn't be feeling guilty about the incident at hand.

If that is how you want to pursue things, don't get discouraged when you don't get it right all the time. We are only human.

You and me

Peace

Eek

Thanks Namvet :) I'm thinking it was a large case of them... I always jump the gun on these things. I think me thinks too much!! Alright, off to work!

Errr, what about laptops/I-pads, mobile phones, kindles, entertainment systems and a whole load of other batteries that are `the norm` on commercial flights! The extreme flight path deviations seemed to be `intentional`(and I say `seem`!).... A terrible tragedy, which we may never find the real answers too! My condolences, thoughts and commiserations to all of the Families concerned/involved...:peace:

Lithium batteries are in every gadget that we are all carrying around along with our watches, refrigerators, cars, loads of scientific and medical uses along with dozens more that we probably never even thought about. Even if they were on that plane, the odds that they had anything to do with eCigs would have to be beyond infinitesimal. Either way, I don't see how anything in the cargo hold caused the pilot(s) to disable the com systems and fly hours off course. The bottom line is that it's a tragedy and nobody is to blame other than those who may have done this purposely. nben, you certainly have nothing to feel guilty about regarding your job. If anything, you are making people healthier who otherwise would still be smoking tar filled cigarettes. :peace:

You`re so much better at Oration than me bro!(I hang my head in shame..."astros Wink wink..") I concur with your observations! :Sharing One:

If I may elaborate on my good friend Krug's pertinent observations regarding our benevolent brother AB, notwithstanding the oration of said batteries, I concur that the validity of the debated points is in agreement with current philosophy on Lithium technology. for example.......

"Lithium-air (Li-air)

Li-air batteries borrow the idea from zinc-air and the fuel cell in that they breathe air. The battery uses a catalytic air cathode that supplies oxygen, an electrolyte and a lithium anode. Scientists anticipate an energy storage potential that is 5 to 10 times larger than that of Li-ion but speculate it will take one to two decades before the technology can be commercialized. Depending on materials used, Li-ion-air will produce voltages in between 1.7 and 3.2V/cell. IBM, Excellatron, Liox Power, Lithion-Yardney, Poly Plus, Rayovac and others are developing the technology. The theoretical specific energy of lithium-air is 13kWh/kg; aluminum-air has similar qualities, with an 8kWh/kg theoretical specific energy."

You see, Krug and me are as one on this academic debate, aren't we ? In other words, don't blame yourself pal.

Peace, eP.

:pighug: Thanks bro but that's just the Auto Assassin talking. Get me sober and I can't string 3 words together...
