Hey guys, just wanted to get some opinions. I am starting to think autos just don't respond well to any "fortified" soil. I just stared a grow using dr earth soil which states it has all kinds of organic additives in the soil. My sprout is about 2 weeks old and doesn't look well ( I didn't bother to take a pic because it doesn't look like much ) it has 3 small sets of leaves, about 3 and a half inches tall. The upper most set of leaves are dull green with a little yellowing at the tips. The soil had a ph of 6.8 and I have been just been watering with plain water at a ph of 6.8. I am watering sparingly , about a quart every 3 days ( it's in a 2 gallon pot ). I did hollow out the middle of the soil and placed a couple handfuls of coco to but the seed in. Any thought or opinions are most welcome.

first thing that strikes me youve put coco in the soil, from what i think isnt coco for dwc pots, and the rest sounds to be like youve done ok, my grow shop reccomends for noobs to use the plagron light mix so prehaps next time use some of that instead

Yes, autos don't like hot soils. You're the third person here recently who is having issues with Dr. Earth soil. Looking at all the ingredients in that mix it would probably be best cut 50/50 with a soil less mix like Pro Mix or Sunshine #4. It also contains bark fines, and any soil I've seen with those in doesn't seem to do well for autos. I also think you are over watering. A 2 week old plant in a 2 gallon container isn't going to use much water. Get a feel for your pot when it is almost completely dry and only water again when it feels like that. When you do water, given enough so that about 10-15% runs out the bottom of the pot.

Thanks muddy. I was using the finger trick to judge watering, I guess not so reliable. My most successful grows have been with sunshine 4, RO green lite, and promix. I guess I should just stick with what I know works. I am going to give it untill the end of the week just to see what happens. I would just put it outside like my last grow but conditions aren't great this time of the year in my area. I had read a lot of good things about dr earth and just wanted to give it a go
