Indoor how can i improve this..

hey guys heres a pic from a few weeks ago basically showing my setup..


Ok first off, the duct that you see in the bottom left corner is connected to my intake fan (which is behind the opened tent flap so you cant see it). my tents in my room so basically the fan is pulling air from my room into my tent.

Also what you cant see is i have an exhaust fan on the outside of my tent which is pulling air from that duct thats connected to my light. Its also pulling some air through the other opening in the light which draws some air out from my tent.

To be simple... when my window a/c unit is on full blast it makes my room really cold so my temps in my tent stay down. if my window a/c unit is off or even on a lower setting it gets too hot.

how can i better set things up or what can i buy to help regulate temps?

if i put some duct on the other side of the hood and had it run to a hole in my tent making the air being pulled from my bedroom instead, i would have to purchase another exhaust fan for my tent right?

others say there hood glass is actually cool to the touch and im still doing the "to hot on the back of the hand test" so any tips would be appreciated guys

When fans are running do you have negative pressure? Tent looking like its sucking in? Also should run duct from outside of tent pulling cool air in through room or near open window, than duct that to the end of the light where the bulb plugs in... Usually on the right handside than on other end of light duct that out of the tent... This will bring cool air blow across bulb cooling it down and than out of tent should be vented out of room, no intake air need into tent as the negative pressure should allow for passive air... Just my 2cents.

na man my intake fan is blasting air into my tent but my exhaust isnt pulling that much, i was going to get a stronger exhaust fan but wasnt sure if that would help.

And if i put duct going from my room to the right side of the hood where the bulb is to pull air across the bulb then out of my tent and room, where would i get the passive intake for my tent for air exchange? are u saying have 2 exhausts one for hood and one for tent? :smokebuds:

Exactly! Works like a charm or if you get a Iomega fan an filter combo you can set it up the way and it will creat negative pressure... Have filter and fan ontop of each other... Set fan up so its pulling air from the tent through the filter, than that ducting from the fan should go on that side of the hood where bulb is pull air through bulb than out of tent and ideally into attic or out the window.... Be sure tent is near a cool source as this will cause the tent "suck" in which causes bottom flaps on side of tent lift up causing passive air that way... ? Understand? Or am I not being clear as am a bit stoned and tired. :eatmydragon:
Hoping you get this figure out as when I first started in October growing had same problem as you that was the solution that works best for me...

What about putting a cool mist humidifier in the tent? I get about 25-30% RH in my tent without it, but when I put it in, it keeps the tent a bit cooler, like 4-5 degrees F. Also raises my RH to about 50% on the low setting. I hang it from the ceiling in a basket so it doesn't take up room. During the day I leave a little gap so the RH stays around 45%. This combined with my hanging fan inside keeps things a bit cooler (about 77-78 F)

My tent is 3x3 foot, x 7 foot.
I got my humidifier at Wal mart for about 25 USA dollars.

EDIT: btw, the reservior pops in and out for easy refilling, I don't have to remove the whole unit to refill it. I fill it about once a day.

hey eek thanks for the tips man, i live in texas so temps are gunna be getting really high and running a 600w in a small tent that 4 or 5 degree difference could help a lot. i have a 3 x 3 tent that is 6.5 feet tall so its almost the same size as yours..

sorry if this is a dumb question but hows the mist not effect the plants buds, trichs, etc? ive seen people use them and always wondered if theres any negative effects..i guess having mist being shot around my buds just sounds kinda scary lol

and will it cause moisture on the glass on my air cooled hood?

I don't have any condensation issues. Once I left it on high setting all night, and it was at about 90% RH in the AM, but I aired it out, but I turn it off at night now, usually, unless it is really dry out. This winter we had some days where there was only about 15-20% RH, so that is why I got it.

That is the same thing, only a different model it seems. Ahhh, but on second inspection, I see it has a "variable" setting on it, instead of the two settings that I have. That could suit you well.

The plants can absorb a lot of the humidity, but also creates it's own. make sure you got a fan on it. It would be like the moisture in the air near the coast. That seems to help the plants, if you ever heard of Humboldt, or Mendocino, the air there is in the 60% RH range all the time. Or greater even. That's one of the reasons the area is so desireable.

I get no condensation on my LED if that helps.

Would this work?

I have a 400w hps and a 600w hps they are from the same company and the hood dimensions are the same. I noticed my 600w hood isn't completely sealed (meaning space where the glass sits it isn't an airtight seal there's a small crack between hood and glass ) But my 400w hood is pretty much airtight.

Can I plug my 600w ballast up to the 400w hood and put my 600w bulb in it? The actual bulb shape is slightly different but if it screws in to tha 400w hood should it work efficiently?

Is the actual socket in the 400w hood only compatible with a 400w bulb or what i just don't wanna have it explode on me then ill be screwed lol thanks guys
