Hey all,

It has been about 5 years since my last dwc, and I can't remember how I would pH down the water in the Rez as pH rises...

I don't imagine you could add pH down while the roots are still in there, so do you take the plant out of the Rez every time you want to add pH down?

What are your strategies for doing this?

Dilution offers protection.
You could empty out 1/2 to 1 gallon, add the pH Dn, then pour the solution back into the bucket.
Larger, multiple plant reservoirs have less problems with pH fluctuations.

Thanks man! I like that idea..!

If I use a bigger rez, will that mean a bigger autoflower?

I'm only doing one plant per one rez at a time for now.

I've never grown in anything smaller than a 13 usable gallon, multiple plant reservoir.
The autos can get huge when following the Vapor Pressure Deficit chart, and not stunting growth by over-feeding.
I've got a 6 ft GrowersChoice CriticalPurple, a 4 ft Mephisto StrawberryNuggets, a 6 ft Mephisto WhiteCrack, a 4 ft Dinafem BubbaKush, and a 4.5 ft Dinafem KushNCheese, all crowded together in 2 tents. No topping or training, more like a Sea Of Green, but with tall plants.

A larger reservoir for a single plant could yield big with Topping and LowStressTraining to produce a big canopy.

Those are some huge plants...! I'm actually looking to keep them fairly small... Want to fit them in a 2x2. I'm still not sure dwc is best choice for it

It depends on strain.
My experience is that DWC+VPD will exceed the breeder's claimed maximum outdoor height, and no amount of topping or training can prevent that for tall plants, unless a lot of extra space is available to spread the plants out.
It's difficult to find short sativas, but there are many excellent indica autos that can stay short.
