How do you harvest?

I cut large fan leaves and some smaller without crystals. Then I put plant for 24-36 hours in dark (plant is still in soil). Then I cut her - branches. Then all other leaves that hasn't crystal on them - manicure. Is that okay?
How agressive do you manicure? Am I doing it right?

That's why I was asking. To discuss this and see other opinions on that.

Welcome aboard sir.
Hang dry,brown bag and water.
Your in the right place.
All 3 are discussed here in this thread.
Be prepared for completely different opinions.
If no worries about time, odor, etc is not a concern then hang dry if you want.
If time, odor etc are major concern then brown bag it.
If damaged or not a good crop then water.
Just my opinion.
Now me i chop, completely trim and bag immediately, my major concern is speed and stealth.
And i can actually smoke it after around 7 days. Not the best but after only 7 days!!! If you hang dry you will wait longer and a lot more smell .

Yes, smell is awesome today! 10 meters around house - open air!

@oldcoot how do you dry with brown bag - how often do you turn around buds? You close bag or open? How's RH in bag?

Its in there.
No time now, sorry .

Here is the brown bag method given in AFN [use search function].
I follow it religiously, and it works perfectly.

Cut and trim, then place trimmed buds into the bottom of a brown paper bag.
NB: Single layer only.
Do NOT over pack the paper bags.

Close/seal the brown bag.
Place onto drying rack, in a dark tent/room.
Have an oscillating fan or two in the tent/room, and ventilation too.
I tend to keep RH% around 45-55%.

You can gently stir/shake the bags daily, if you so choose.

Resist the temptation to open them.
It's hard, I know.

Allow 10% drying per day, + 1 day.

For example, if your target is 50% humidity of bud, you would be aiming to reduce the humidity of the bud by 50%.
Simple so far.

Then, @ 10% per day, would mean 5 days [total 50% reduction], +1 day means total of 6 drying days.
The CAVEAT is, the size and density of the buds.
Popcorn or fluffy buds won't need the 6 days.

Baby arm sized giant colas will need more.
BUT - I would never try to dry a baby arm.
It's great for showing off to your mates, but not so great for drying and end product.
Break them down to large gold ball sized nugs.
They tend to be the most consistent performers.

Take them out of the bags.
Place them into sealed jars with some Boveda 62.

Job done.

In terms of wet weight to dry weight conversion - using this method I guesstimate at harvest by using 22.5% of wet weight, and its proved to be pleasingly accurate.

One more question - which is better for drying? Buds on branches or like last picture? For now I only dry popcorn buds - last picture. But after 4 days they seems dry - little stems snaps/cracks.

Yer I'm mulling this one over in my head at the moment. I harvested my first plant recently, but it was so small, I got away with hanging the bud from the branches. The sister plant is a lot bigger and I think she would take too long to dry if I hang the bud on the branches. I just ordered a drying rack and I already have the paper bags. I might even try both methods. The main cola would certainly hang nicely from my tent support bar
