Okay so I was wondering how important is an intake fan?
Specs:
3’x3’x6.5’ tent
2 mars sp-150 lights

So my plan is 6” exhaust fan with a 6”x 24” filter, 4”x8” intake filter. But if I neeeeeed to I will have to scrape some penny’s and throw a fan on the 4 inch intake filter.

Wait.. What's the intake filter for if you don't have a fan for it? But my answer to your question is that I've never had, nor used an intake fan. If your environment and temps are both locked in, and in range, then I don't see a need for it.

Intake Filter is for pests, mold, dust and other contaminants. Just seemed like a better idea than running with the port wide open.

I use a fabric pot zip tied over a duct for intake filtering. Seems to work OK keeping out dust and bugs.

I personally dont think you need an intake fan for a 3x3 when you have 6 inch exhaust. The passive intake should be enough as long as you have big enough vents.

I know this is an old post, but I wanted to add that there is nothing wrong with passive intake under all but the most extreme conditions. You're exhaust is automatically in sync with it, it requires no monitoring, and no power. It simply allows air in based the rate of extraction.
