Hey guys"
I'm not one for taking your soils run off ph, for some reson i decided to do a reading today.
Im growing in 11ltr pots so i put 2ltrs of ph'd water 6.3-4 let that water drain through the soil and got rid of it" i then put another 2ltrs through by letting the water flood the pot and drain through.
I took that run off water and put it init a bottle so i could take a reading' i did 2 reading and they both came out the same as 5.3 which is a no no in soil.
I have fine dolomite lime i could use but dont have any idear how much to use? Or is the only other way is to let enough ph'd water through the soil it should change the ph?

I'm not a firm believer in worrying about run off numbers and have talked to several tech reps from different nute companies and they said not to worry about run off ph.But if you really want to go that way you have to raise your intake waters ph until it comes out the run off the way you want it to.

Hi there,
Thanks for the reply my friend" im just super confused now lol if the runoff means so little to nothing, why is there so much hype about it? i understand what you mean about putting higher ph in untill it come out the bottom the way you want but wouldnt that throw of the soils ph?
To me it sort of feels like a catch 22 coz if you put in water with a higher ph would throw of the soil inside the pot off?

How much dolomite lime would i need to put on as a top dressing so it would make my ph runoff go from 5.3 to anywhere between 6-7

If i feed my plants will the plants get the nutes or is it locked out?

WHAT soil are you using?

Hey bro, you should use roughly 1tbsp of lime per gallon, or I use 1 gram of lime per litre of soil if that helps at all.
I just top dressed my plant because I suspect low pH too. It will take up to 2 weeks to raise your pH, you can lightly foliar feed until then but if everything looks ok don't worry so much. Try to work it in gently with a small fork or something, help it get to work quicker.

Peace.

WHAT soil are you using?

Its a soil i put together out of 50% westlands multi compost with added john inns plus 30% vitamix-pro with is a dutch soil which is light with loads of organic matter but hardly any nutes. I also added 10% worm castins and 10% perlite with 1& teaspoon of dolomite lime to each 11ltr pot.
