Lighting Hps or LED?

The max fan is my only fan. It works very well on low even, and use negative pressure to create passive intake.

Max fans are no joke. I advise this be the only fan you buy.

Oh i do have a fan inside room for air flow throughout canopy.

And yes in a 4x4 or 5x5 tent one fan is all that is needed using negative pressure. Actually the max fans move so much air that a circulation fan isnt really even needed as the tent closed will cause good air flow through canopy.

Ah, I see, you run it the same way I do with passive intake. That's pretty good for a powerful hps like yours being able to cool it all with one fan!

I did start out with a similar hps setup but only a cheaper 400w in a closed hood but after a couple of days I gave up trying to keep the tent below 33c and ordered an led overnight shipping

I started tent growing with a dr80 and a 400w cmh many years ago. I used the old style super sun reflector with option 4" flanges and glass installed . Hooked up to a 4" vortec with a spd control.

I only grew one plant at a time but got about 8-10oz every 8wks routinely. I turned an old dresser into a stealthy veg cab to house my next girl in line.

To keep temps in chevk during summer months i ran lights on during the night and had dark during the hottest part of the day. Luckily around here summer lasts 2 months.

I remember a member of icmag named ice cold crickets.
He was an auto flower master back in the day.

He feminised his own autos and ran like 49 autos sog in a 4X4 with only a 400w.

This guy almost always got 1 gram per watt.

idk if he's still around or maybe he even joined afn with a new handle. ...

I believe they were a lowrider 1 cross. Not positive tho.

Well everyone I am confused on what route to choose for my upgrade. I'm a small scale grower. I have the room for about 4 to 5 good size plants 3.5x3.5x9 grow space and currently use cfl's. A lot of them too. I'm at around 4000lumens per square ft. I am saving for an upgrade and I'm stuck choosing between hps and LED.
Im well educated when it comes to hps lighting. But I don't know to much about LED!?!?!
How much LED lights would I need for my space? What is the cost comparison between the two? Will LED last longer than HPs? I just don't know what to do!? As much info as possible would help me the most. I'll continue to pick through this site to find more info. But if anyone has experience with the two styles of light and could fil me in it would be great. Again, what kind of LED Would I need? How many? How much? Ect. Thanks guys

HPS/MH is dead technology. For every person telling you LED sucks, I'll find you 5 who love them. Any name brand LED growlight made in the last 2-3 years wi;; grow excellent plants. Don't think so? spend some time reading threads here. Look first at those using Chinese lights, then go find some high end light used by growers like Tang.
Who needs all that extra heat and energy use? Expense of replacing bulbs every 6-12 months? Ballast thatt create heat and parasitic power drain? Bigger fans to suck out the heat? Yeild per watt has more to do with your growing skills and strain selection than does what light you use, in general. I switched to LED a year ago and you'd couldn't get me to switch back to HPS/MH for any amount of money.
