I'm gonna be stumbling through dwc so it should be fun. I've updated the first page and added another to catch us up to today, day 27 from sprout. I think I'm starting to get the hang of this blogging thing, but man is it hard to learn while high.

@Atulip nice set-up. The smaller 1.5' starter cubes will help get roots down into the reservoir faster. The bubbles that look oily means most likely a bio-film from algae or other microbes growing in the media. The yellow bin lids allow too much light and stuff can grow. Been there done that. If a bio-film forms anaerobic conditions follow. The bio-film prevents the exchange of oxygen into the water.

Ideally I would've gone straight to DWC after hatching, but I needed to keep them alive and growing long enough to get everything set up so they went in 4" cubes until then. My net pots kept getting lost in the mail, I ended up ordering them 3 times before one order arrived lol. I'll keep an eye out for oily reservoir and add in some H2O2 for now. Is that like a paper or plastic you've got on your lids?

No do not use H202 it kills everything including the good microbes! Do a res change and use Botanicare HydroGuard.

You will kill the HydroGuard with H202.
Right, but how would a res change help if the hydroguard isn't helping to begin with?

Hydroguard will not kill algae it out competes the microbes that cause root rot a different organism. If you can lift your plant onto a different container while you clean and disinfect the res then refill and replace the plant. Then block the light from getting into the reservoir. Glue aluminum foil to one side of some Styrofoam and then place Styrofoam side up, The white color reflects the light evenly. If you place foil side up you can burn the underside of the leaves.
