I'm thinking of using 600w HPS (in a OG Vertical Reflectors) and LED in a mixed system. Because of laws in my state I can't have a ton of mature plants so my plan is to grow scrog over a 3.5 x 3.5 footprint. I need a recommendation for a good LED light (or set of lights) that can cover a 3.5 x 3.5 footprint (strong coverage towards edges).

I am planning on air cooling my HPSs but I don't want to be dealing with much additional heat from the LED system as I want to run CO2. If anyone has thoughts on spectrum on LEDs being paired with HPS I would love to hear it. Currently I am leaning toward a low white spectrum (meaning not much white) as I feel like the HPS is strong enough here.

In terms of spacing I was planning on doing a 3.5 wide footprint that was 3.5 time the number of lights long. I was just going to alternate HPS to LED to HPS etc. Does anyone have any other ideas for this?

3.5 feet - I'm not crazy.
Awww - we love crazies here! ^_^

You may have already seen some of Tangs awesome grows - He's one of the AFN LED experts and (I'm sure he'll be all bashful but won't mind me saying) Master Growers.
3.5 feet is quite a small area for mixing HPS LED and whatever else

.. but check out this chap too (Mr ganjamoto) - He uses LED - Plasma - HPS ... and His Mind Power o_O

My suggestion is a couple of good old tried and (AFN) tested GN0006 LED's - maybe get the rebel upgrades if you really wanna push the boat out.

I'm biased because i have one and it rocks!

All the best

HI ...Think about this ..it would be like running 1000w in a 3.5 x3.5 foot space..a GN led covers 3.5 so it would be a bit crazy to do it that small..the led wont raise temps to bad mine only by about 2d ....really only need a small fan moving air around the space...I would get 1 REBEL led and call it a day !:d5::smokebuds:

I see that a lot of users use the grow northern MS006 on this forum with good results. However - being in the US - these cost around $450 a piece for less than 200 watts plus shipping. It seems slightly expensive. Thanks for the link to a combo grower.

I guess I didn't make myself clear about the grow size. I was planning on growing a 7 by 14 grow space. Every 3.5 x 3.5 square would alternate HPS then LED but only one light per square. So a total of 8 lights arranged like this:

H L H L
L H L H

Where H = HPS and L = LED

Thanks again guys!
