A loonie in Canada is our Canadian Dollar coin. It has a picture on one side of a bird called a loon so when the coin came out it picked up the nick name loonie and our two dollar coin is known as a twoonie lol

Slang for lunatic . The root of this word is luna, which means moon. That's because lunatic originally meant someone who went crazy with every phase of the moon, kind of like a werewolf. Most people these days don't believe in moon-caused insanity, but we still talk about lunatics, sometimes meaning clinically insane people. More often this is a slang term, used mainly in exaggerations, for anyone who seems wild and out of control.

Also a word for the Canadian $1 coin introduced in 1987 and is called a Loonie because it has a picture of a Loon Bird on it. The $2 coin is refered to as a "toonie" both are referenced in the Trailer Park Boys Movie also refered to as "The Big Durty". Thought I'd add this but it is not the loonie Blue is referring to, she was saying we were lunatics.
