Today on my shiny black air pots I have little white specks walking around. I think they are some sort of mite, not the red spider mites but it can’t be good. No sign of issues on the leaves, but before I have problems I want to be proactive. I read that Azamax is good for fighting mites, anyone have experience with this? Or if there is a critter control that’s better, I’d love to hear it. My plants are just entering flower, 5-6 weeks to go so I’d like to take care of this ASAP! Thanks in advance!

..probably soil mites, harmless fortunately! Poke at one and see if it jumps, could be springtails too, also OK,... if you have one use a magnifier to get s better look at them, and look them up online to see pics and confirm,... Azamax will do the job if they are at nuisance levels... :toke:

I actually have been doing a lot of research into this and here is what I found -

Killing mites is something that should be done in rounds of 2, and in each round there should be 3 products used on rotation each 3 days apart - total of 6 treatments in 18 days. In flower the safest 3 to use are a detergent/plant oil spray, a product called spinosad (made from fermented microbes) and a product called Nuke Em, which uses some food preservatives as its agents.

Azamax is systemic, meaning it stays in the plant after application. It is supposed to be based on Neem oil, but in Feb was found to have miticides not listed on the label and pretty toxic by the state of Oregon. Before using Azamax follow up on this!

The reason for rotating three products is because some mites will be resistant to one, and multiple applications because the eggs hatch a few days later and later applications are needed to get the newly hatched before they start laying eggs.

Other preventative measures are diatomaceous earth which puncture the mites.

For me, I think I’m going to go with predatory mites after the rounds of miticide. My thinking is that I don’t necessarily want 0 mites, I just don’t want a mite infestation. By managing the bad mite numbers with good mites, there will be a living defense constantly defending my plants.

If you have mites it’s no joke, I saw tons of pictures of ruined gardens. Also, before you start doing actions do the research to find the treatment that works for you.

So glad you posted this! I checked the soil and there’s tons of these guys down there. Everything I read says these are good to have so I’m going to leave them. Looking back, they exploded when I added carbo load so it makes sense, and there is zero leaf damage. Whew! Big relief!

right! :smoking: ... soil mites want nothing to do with the plant,.. I've had them on my houseplants, and never in the foliage,...

...ditto on the 1-2 or even -3 punch for spider/russet/broad mites! there are lots of choices these days,... acting in different ways, and that's the key; spinosad is a neurotoxin derived from an obscure bacterial; pyrethrum is also a neurotoxon made from chrysanthemums,... many of the miticides are made form various spice/plant oils,... neem/Aza' are toxins ( to the bugs) that mess with development metabolism,... I use Aza', but only when in veg',... truth is, I haven't had a real battle with mites on my cannabis so far, but have on my orchids! I have a few that the fucking LOVE- :cuss:... Also, the evn. conditions are so key to making a small population go batshit, and damn fast too,.. [HASHTAG]#1[/HASHTAG] prevention is vigilance!...
I also use a great product called SNS209, a systemic based on a form of rosemary oil,.. not nearly as stanky as you'd think at all-- my main pests hate that shit and don't stay around! Makes the sap taste bad,.. just stop using a couple weeks before harvest for it to metabolize out,... Finally, I do some foliar spraying during veg' just to kick some ass regardless,.. in fact pure neem oil has several benefits to the plant,...just be sure to use a wetting agent when spraying, including the other pesti's-... this helps coat and stick far better, and overcomes the natural repellency bugs have to solutions,... my favorite is Coco-Wet, cheap, organic and perfect for the job!

That’s good to know! If the SNS gave the flavor of rosemary with no adverse health effects, I’d use it up to the day of harvest! Loves me some rosemary.....

smell from the bottle is mild, herbal slight rosemary,.. nobody has left it in harvested buds to report on off-flavors that I know,... doubt it's rosemary flavored though!
