I am planning to do a biotabs grow in 50% soil 50% perlite in 3 gallon fabric pots. I plan to do a weekly hand watering with coconut water with real growers recharge or the bactrex on there. I have read that if you plan to hand water that you should turn off the reservoir to keep it from overrunning in the tray. If I turn off the reservoir how long do you think it would take for the soil to dry out enough to water each plant with 1/4 to 1/2 gallon of water on there?

Thanks. I am planning to try to turn off the plant water reservoir like 1 day before I want to hand water the plants on there.

In my opinion it would depend on what phase of growth they were in. As a result, I would simply turn off the res tap and check the water levels in the individual autopots daily. Once it is mostly dry you should be good to go. However, I personally would do the 1/4th a gallon per pot because even a little bit over 1.5L gets REALLLYYYY close to overflowing the tray and 1/2 gallon would be just a tiny more than that. However, this is with the standard 3.6gal buckets so you may be able to get away with a 1/2 gallon if you have extra room in the square tray area.
