Out of curiosity, how does one produce autoflowering seeds?

Does one use an autoflowering plant and produce seeds from that?

Hi Oldman

Welcome to AFN :)

That's a tough first question hehe - breeding is not my thing as it takes time, space, dedication and rather a lot of know how.
I think to get the best overview of breeding autos, you'd be wise to take a peek at the breeder forums to see how they're doing it.

Here's a link to save you looking - there should be some helpful stuff in here

All the best

:welcome: Yep, grow out a male autoflower plant and harvest the pollen. Then use it to pollinate other female autoflower plants. Some breeders only sell feminized seeds to make it more difficult to breed their strains and produce seeds, though there are ways to cause a female plant to turn male and produce pollen.

Creating a new strain of auto by breeding a photoperiod plant with an autoflower is much more complex and time consuming. There's a breeding forum here on AFN that will tell you more than you ever wanted to know about the subject. :smoke:

Thanks! It makes sense to me to use an already existing autoflowering plant and produce a male on it's stem. As opposed to what, I don't know yet. I'll head to the forms.

Your quite right. Too complex for me. I guess I'll have to take a chance and buy some auto feminized and attempt to produce a male from an attached limb.
Any personal recommendations as to what works best? I like White Widow and Northern lights. But have have not tried anything else.

There's a long but very informative thread on collodial silver that you may want to read: https://www.autoflower.org/f117/definitive-colloidal-silver-tutorial-9878.html

I'd recommend going with an established breeder who has reliable, strong genetics. I personally would use one of my favorites such as WOS, Short Stuff/Flash, Dutch Passion, Dinafem, Dragonmasters, etc. You want to be sure you're passing on the best possible genetics to your offspring plants.

Oldman69,

Welcome bruvva, boy you start right at the pointy bit! Talk about starting in the deep end! But why not? Simple is easy. Go for it bro, and when you breed the Mother of all Auto's remember the penguin who encouraged ya. Go breeder go......
ps That collodail silver thread is great reading. Enjoy pal eP

I'll leave ya to the pros' Oldman69.
What I can do is say Welcome to the AFN Family! :tiphat:
I look forward to seeing how your project turns out. :gthumb:
