Hey, so I have a fan which has been making these very loud and annoying noises. The fan still runs fine but any time it's running, there is a loud knocking sound which will fade in and out. The noise can be heard through walls so I need to get this under control. I would greatly appreciate any direction or information on repairing inline duct fans. My fan is a VenTech 6" 440 CFM. I don't know where I could take this to be repaired and I don't want to have any suspicious eyes asking questions either. Please help! Thank you.

I am not mechanically inclined, but if your balance is good, and it isn't hitting the side, then it may be on the fritz. Replacing would be better than reparing probably.

Maybe some motor heads can come in and give advice.

Will check in later,

I've never repair one of these fans but it sounds like maybe the impeller has slipped on the shaft, try to see if you reposition the impeller, other than that I would consider them consumable and replace the fan.
