Live Stoner Chat Intro

@epenguin also, Texas was an independent country for a good while before joining the States. It even belonged to Mexico for a bit. So the nickname Lone Star State, with the 1 star flag, also pays tribute to their former sovereign-hood and long fight for independence. It's a gigantic piece of land too, it's about 5x UK's lol.

Very well put! I have a question. I have germinated three autos with no problems but they only get about an inch tall then they die after the cotyledons are used up. They start to turn yellow first starting at the leaftips. They barely begin to start their second set of true leaves before they die. What's going on here? Any help would be appreciated.

Hi and :welcome: to Afn it's a real pleasure to have u here.
Sounds like you have a nice setup and knowledge of what ure doing any questions don't be afraid to ask :vibe:

Uh ohhh catdaddy, that's not good. If they are dying that young, it can basically only be from being burned by the soil. Whatever you're planting em in is too "hot" as we say, in other words has way too much nutrients in it. Canna seedlings are pretty sensitive. What kind of soil or whatever are you using?

I'm using 70% coco (Coco Tek), 30% perlite (Plant It). I thoroughly flushed the coco with distilled water. No nutes added, just a small amount of CalMag. Thank you for answering! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hmm, it won't need CalMag for the first week or so. The distilled water might have messed up the pH, strange I know, but most good coco has buffers in it. See if you can pH test the coco directly (if you have an Accurate 8 meter) or test the runoff with regular water.

I checked the runoff with dechlorinated water from the tap. Going in: 870ppm, ph 8.13. Runoff:380ppm, ph 6.89.

Uh ohh.. That's not good lol. It sounds okay but it's not. Be right back, gonna find that thread for "new improved runoff testing", I think the coco pH might be down near 5.
