I'm hoping for some input...

I'm currently growing in a built in closet at home. It is split into two sections top and bottom with a wooden panel between.

I'm growing in the bottom section, I have a exhaust fan running sucking the air into the top section.

In the top section I have all my electrics feeding below. I'm running a small ionic air purifier in there as well. It's working great to neutralise the odor.

My question (thank you for bearing with me) is, I was hoping to hang and dry my buds in the top section. Will the ionic purifier cause any problems?

I'm no expert but I'd say your safe. The ionizer with neutralize the terpenes in the air ( to a certain extent ) but unlike Ona, Fabreeze, etc. It won't penetrate the buds. You'll be lucky however, if that will be enough to keep the smell reasonable.

It shouldn't cause any adverse effects on the buds; but like pop stated; it may not be enough to quell the beast that is stinking odor! Curing buds REEK. Depending on the size of your cab and your budget; would definitely recommend a carbon scrubber if you are at all thinking of doing this long term.

If you are looking to do it short term or don't have a tremendous amount of buds to dry/cure, you could look into ONA blocks or ONA gel. I've used them on 4+ grows now; the 1st run with them was with no carbon scrubber. One ONA quart jar of gel stopped the odor of three photo strains in my smaller tent for about 2 months or so. They require a fan or some way of moving air over the material; but they work great in small enclosed areas. Quart of ONA gel runs about $20 USD online.

ONA doesn't penetrate buds or cause ill effects to your plants. It's an essential oils product. It binds with odor causing molecules in the air and creates new compounds with different or neutralized odor characteristics. That's a little different than deodorizers or masking agents (I think Febreeze is considered a deodorizer WITH masking agents; masking agents typically try to cover up a bad odor with a stronger odor (like perfumey scents,) while deodorizers in general try to remove odors through some type of process or reaction.

I have an ona block outside the cupboard at present. I will only be drying 1 plant at a time, at present anyway.

I'm trying to keep my costs minimal for my first grow, basically so I have some cash to spend on my second - filling in the gaps so to speak.

I was under the impression that ona did penetrate the buds?

Thanks for the input folks, appreciated!
