I'm watering with 2 gal water in each of my 5gal pots. I read you want a 10 to 30 percent runoff. I wait till there's dry but just seems like leave are puffy afterward and the leaves sweat on either. Is 2 gal to much for my pants. There in there's 3rd week. Still in vegetative stage. Any help would be great.

Seems like an awful lot to me. My biggest pot is 3g and it takes about 1/2 - 2/3 a gallon before I get some runoff. You don't want to flush the pot with each watering, rather just make sure that you're getting water all the way to the bottom. Do you have a light medium with plenty of perlite in it?

I'm using 5 gallon air pots and my girl at day 21 took 1 gallon of feed with about 10% run-off and my other girl at day 10 took 1/2 gallon of feed and barley any came out the bottom of the 5 gallon pot and they where pretty dry. I think 2 gallons is way to much water ( but I'm a newb) just giving you a feel on what my 5 gallon pots hold.
Good luck on your grow and Peace

Thanks guys. .. yea I'm using FFOF and Light Warrior. I'll try using 1 gallon next time.

Hey moore! Yes, 2 gals is too much. I had a big strain in 5 gallon smart pots and the most in heavy flower(week 7,8,9) the most they took was a gallon every 2 days. I got just a dribble of runoff with that. I am in LED and a highly pourous medium with a bunch of perlite. Water them in a few days with a gallon and see where your runoff is, lift the pot when she has been watered and that is your wet weight of the pot. 2-3 days later, lift her again and this is the dry weight(not bone dry but push your finger down the side of the inside of the pot, if soil sticks to your finger, let her go another day) do this weight method and you will never over or underwater again!! Sooner than later, you will know when to water by the weight of the container!!

3/4 to one gallon works great for me in 5 gallon containers. Rule of thumb is approximately 30% water to amount of soil.
You will get the feel of it as time goes on.

Hope that helps.

Peace!

Thanks ppl... since my babies have been overstated will they bounce back and be ok...I mean will their leaves stick straight out again or will they stay droopy. Stupid question I know.

Once you dry them out they should stand back up...Unless there cupping real bad then they probably wont straiten out but new growth should be fine....
