I just made a batch last night and am waiting a month before I use it but I didn't know if they would burn my seeds. I'm growing sweet seeds red poison and black cream, g13 labs diesel auto, and cream caramel auto. I just want to know if I can plant them directly in this shit.

Of course i'm using 7 gallon phat sacks but my mix will only cover a little more than 5 gallons for each

start them indoors in seedling soil, that way you won't fert burn them...then tier transplant

The only light I have is a 4 foot by 6 bulb t5 fluorescent light i think it's 6400K idk what that means exactly and how long do I have to keep them before putting them in super soil? Also I can start them in solo cups then transplant to 2 gallon pots but I don't have anything in between would it be ok to move from 2 gallon to 5+ gallons without. messing up root growth? Especially since their final resting place are in aerated pots? Also how do I know when to transplant? Should I watch roots? I don't wanna stress them out pulling them out and checking them to much.

You can start seeds in a very well seasoned TLO mix, but it's still not ideal, from my experience. I don't use the tier method myself. I would rather start them in a 4"-6" pot of seedling mix (Pro-Mix, Jiffy, Happy Frog) and then transplant into the TLO, if I'm using male/female beans. If I'm planting fem seeds, I hollow out a 5" dia x 5"-6" deep hole in the TLO and fill that with seedling mix, and plant the seed there. To each his own.

But, to answer your question, I would definitely not start seeds in a new supersoil mix (even though it has cooked 30 days, it's still new). :peace:

Hey there mrjones15, keep in mind that ANY transplant for an auto will most likely stunt them, at least to an extent. like hereb4 said above, the tier transplant method is by far the least stressful way to do this. Autos generally don't have much time to veg, so any stress during that veg stage can severely stunt her (think how she'll most likely show her naughty bits around day 18-21 depending on strain, so she really only has a couple solid weeks of veg before preflowers will appear. Now if she's stunted by transplant and takes 2 days to recover, that is a very significant portion of her veg time. The tier transplant method alleviates most of this stress, by not removing all of the grow medium from the container, and only letting her roots grow from the bottom of the cup into another pot of medium. I would HIGHLY recommend only 1 transplant, and only if it's necessary. Another thing I have seen done with great results is layering your grow medium inside of your pot/container (as in supersoil on the bottom and lighter seedling soil on top, therefore giving her time to establish in the lighter soil before growing down into the real rich stuff.) Bear in mind though that this method can be tricky to get right and you might roast a few ladies before you get it dialed in.

Personally, I would go ahead and start them in solo cups (larger ones if you can, 24+ fl oz) and set them up to be tier transplanted. Once they show their sex, give em another day or two, then tier em directly into their final pots (no 2 gal pot in between). Just my :2cents: L4

Edit: So while I was typing my rambling reply, testorx beat me to it. His advice is sound, take it to heart.

To begin with... Holy Shit!!! Take a breath! j/k

That's exactly the same gear I start seedlings under. I transplant when I ID them as females... as soon as possible if I'm starting in a 16 oz solo cup. On a cup that small, it is likely there has already been some sort of root growth compromised, from my exsperience... so, sooner the better. If you have fem seeds, see above post.

When you transplant from the solo cups, put them in their final pot. I know three step up-potting is common with photos but that's not the best way to treat auto's.

Also how do I know when to transplant?
See above.

Should I watch roots? I don't wanna stress them out pulling them out and checking them to much.
You're right... not a good way to go. :peace:

I have never seen that done with great results when using TLO. It doesn't make sense unless you are going to be adding fertilizers along the way, which we do not do with TLO's. I can not endorse any method that entails "roasting a few ladies along the way"... sorry. :peace:

Hey mrjones welcome to AFN ! I too am on my first grow, and using TLO.

start them indoors in seedling soil, that way you won't fert burn them...then tier transplant
This was the method recommended to me by one of the Master Growers on here.
I also used FFHF for the seedlings with excellent results.

I did my first tier transplanting on Monday into 30 day old TLO, and plants are looking happy. Remember you will still want to water inside the tier cup with proper PH levels for at least 2 weeks after transplanting.

You would be wise to heed the advice of the Master Growers, such as , hereb4,
testerx, and all the many others here at AFN. Just look at their results in their grow journals. The pics definitely speak for themselves.

:peace:
