Grow Mediums Is this root rot?

Hmm, these are the first roots to emerge out of the pot, but the brown tips concern me

Pyru, we need a bit more on your setup, with what nutes, additives, beneficials. What all is in your rez? Make sure NO light can penetrate the rez too. Just a little bit of light can create havoc! Temps should be below 70*F in the rez to boot.

Closet grow in a tent using emilys garden.. I have a journal going on this forum. But basically using GH grow thought the grow, only yesterday did I add some h2O2, about 3oz in a 4gal rez. Could that have caused discoloration? Or the nutes in the water cause discoloration?



i did a fresh water change tonight and only did 3 caps of h2O2.

i noticed when I did the change there was brown sediment on the bottom of the rez, I figured this maybe sediment coming off the hydroton or the nutes just not dissolving properly so didn't think anything of it

also water temp is around 70-72, but I have a huge 100gal tetra whisper aquarium pump blowing air through my 2 stones, so there's plenty of oxygen

Rez needs to be cooler, by a few degres and check hydroton for light leaks. Nutes could cause the discoloration. Did you rinse the hydroton good before you started? Give it a day or two for the H202 to take hold. If things get worse, hit up the guys in the Hydro forum. Relax brother, you are taking care of the problem. Trouble shoot what you can. No light through to the rez, get your temps dropped by a few degrees and you should be good. Head over to the hydro forum and those guys will get you sorted.

Lol no worries, I changed the water so res temp is now 66 from the cold tap water.. But this morning the leaves on this plant with the roots in question are kind of curling inwards and down like a taco shell.

i might have filled it with too much water so I took a gallon out, hopefully it gets better

Hey bud Briman is spot on & his info should help.The temps being the main thing ,but I think you could be right about the hydroton dust causing it ...had that a few times & thought the same thing .After a few res changes it should clear & maybe run some nutes through the pot a few times just before & after the next res change to flush the rest out .You could gently use a spray bottle & see if it washes away ?,seemed to help me out when it was clay dust

Im guessing shes young so may not like the h202 this early & thats why the leaves are drooping ,or the temp drop after res change may have been a shock ? I usually let fresh resies get almost upto the same temps as the current one to avoid that :Cool bud:

It's hard to keep ph that exact with dropper liquid tester. I tend to add enough up/down to bring it to the yellow color which is 6

could well be the problem dude ? ...ph is probably the most important thing with DWC more so than other hydro systems even :Sharing One:$20-30 on a ok meter even (& some calibration fluid ) could be a winner man
