New Grower Jack Herer

Howdy;
I'm no Jack Herer but it is my favorite strain so I will try to represent. :tiphat:
I've devoted myself to the growing of this crop and for the most part, nothing else.
I do hope this thread will benefit anyone that is eager to grow it, curious, crazy, contradictory, crass, in love about Jack.

My main intention from this, is to start a auto-flower community solely for Jack and its predecessors; also the new strains people have accomplished & marketed.​

Know about the genes will benefit anyone's grow/yield, and be able to tell tale signs for what their babes need.​

Generally speaking: It plays an important factor to see where the strain came from before it was bred with the auto and/or anything else.
As you may know, there are many many many types of Jack (auto & non-auto)...
Know what your plant was crossed with (again) and look up that strain as well. lol

As for my inside info:
I first came in contact with Jack Herer (I thought is was Jack Hair/Hare) in 2003. (smoking)
Since then It has always been my favorite. <3
Anyway, I believe the actual "Jack Herer" has been crossed too much with different strains but thankfully the original recipe is kept safe (somewhere in the humble county area where it originated) You have your serious fan's (hommies) & fanatics that talk a lot of smack about the "Jack" now-a-days.
To my sense, Jack is typically very red/orange, sticky, huge, dense, strong cerebral high, aromatic, smooth, long-lasting, with the coolest under-tones on the block.

If you cure it, or harvest it later than usual, not only do you get the sativa high, but you get the indica lows as well. This all does depend on your preference.​

Once other non-local growers had chances of getting Jack in seed/clone form, they were amazed with the yield & potency, and they bowed down.​

Because of that, it has been getting world acclaim, and is being breed by other serious growers of this time. Just a foot note: Strains have been crossed sooo much, with abstract phenotypes your "Jack" may have just been jacked.​

It kind of reminds me how there are no fully Irish-blooded folks in America but everyone is part Irish.​

Regardless this strain ignited through a really long history of experienced pro(kick-ass) growers who supplied this magical erb through-out strictly the west-coast from around the 60's & 70's when crossing was knowledgeable to devoted growers in (CA~WA)​

The best stuff never leaves those states because it's all gone by then.
What makes it so wondrous was that it had the 3 well-rounded traits (growing/smoking) all rolled into one package/blunt.
Perhaps call it your "3 power axes" coming together to just dominate everything else.

Growing wise: It was definitely an out-door dominant plant, soaking the fresh cool breeze, high/perfect co2 climates, with lots of sun/UV(A/B etc)​

Hence why the yields are so amazing, with high resin/THC/canopy/piney-sweet natural smell. Perfect cool water temps, fresh breeze, with very very low natural disasters.​

This atmosphere was key to the prime substances that is produced by this plant, and not to forget the tender loving(protective) care from the farmers. :howdy:

Indoors & outdoor: all that is essential will be to know what kind of "Jack" you want (Then hope that's even stable) and be able to know what its needs/wants are and what the out-come may turn out to be.

The original Jack herer was made with intentions so kush can be flowered & consumed in a shorter period of time. (not 5/6 months but 3/4)

breeding it to be an auto, made it even more faster.

Therefore, most people do not recommend first time growers to try it because they wouldn't have the experience to tell what phenotype the plant turned out to be from seed.​

Sure it'll still grow massive and produce plenty of buds, but if it's not to the point where it blows yours and other peoples minds/plants out the ball park then there is something you haven't done right and your basically settling for less.

Knowing all the basic original compounds, and what they do before you grow will not only make you a happy camper but also your ladies as well.

Jack Herer plays a strong role in the auto-flowering community and should be highly acknowledged & praised...but not too much. :grat:

The presence of Jack Herer in Sweet Seeds Dark Devil was one of the reasons I chose it as my first grow...the fact that it was a purple strain with it's Pakistani Hindu Kush was another...I love the fact that there is a compound Sativa Haze in Jack with Sativas from every corner of the world, while also depicting some seriously famous Indica components as well. I'll be interested to hear what purists think of this marriage. It is said to be a very versatile strain as it relates to harvesting timing...with an earlier harvest equating to a highly cognizant and energizing social buzz and later harvestings producing hard body buzzes with some couch lock and effective insomnia treatment.

Sweet Seeds is known for using elite clones so I have to imagine they had access to some worthy parent stock

I can see there being a dilution argument for strains working away from the purity of the strain as it presents by itself,
but I'm not sure I buy any assertion that there is a "regional imperative" to getting "true" Herer. That bud has been across
the pond for numerous competitions and specifically for the benefit of other breeders and is one of the most well known
strains on the planet...there are many ways to transfer pure genetics to any corner of the earth.

I'm starting to enjoy this thread already.
Don't really know if I stated that location matters, just that the Jack gene is meant to grow feets which most indoors can't handle.
Then when it's outdoors it's got to have the right environment which can be rough. Nothing like the coast! :dance2:
