Hi, I was wondering whether to use Jiffy pellets for planting pre-soaked and germinated seeds.
I am growing in soil, so planting the germinated seed directly in the soil seems easier to me than first planting it in a Jiffy pellet and then burying the pellet in the soil again... In the end of the day both the seed and the Jiffy will be placed in the soil, so what is the purpose of a Jiffy pellet for soil growers?
Thanks!

I use them sometimes, they work great .start in a green house tray , transplant after roots pop out!

If i could choose again i woukd go with root-riots, the ones in root-riots germed quicker and they grow faster. It coukd be the rot-riots are smaller so that tap-root gets out out to the soil/coco faster.

I rinsed them in water with a ph of 5.5.. i use kind if little water so i needed to change water 5 times before they had a ph under 6. Root riots or the jiffys u have a is good.

Everybody like their thing, but when i will germ in future i will use root-riots. Also the root-riots stays moist longer, or are still moist while the rockwools felt dry.

What about rockwool cubes? I have plenty of them, never tried them.
I saw you using them, how you pH them and how long can I keep seedling in them?
I use rockwool too!! It starts seeds good and its the easiest to clone with. It's pH nuetral ,so it has no bearing on pH in any way. It also holds the perfect ratio of water to air. I actually have been popping seeds all the way out of the shell using the wet paper towel in a bag method. After they pop out I split the rockwool and gently place the Taproot in with cotlyedons (tiny leaves) barely sticking out.I plant the rockwool in the soil to keep the seeds or sprouts from washing out in loose airy medium.

Those things rock. Those are exactly what I'd used on my blue mystic. I just keep them continually moist, in a small enclosed/domed space, with a small windowsill-style heat-mat underneath. Came up beautiful and strong

And how you prepare cubes with pH water/nutes? If you squeeze them, air goes out.

Rockwool or jiffy...both are good.
Rockwool just require a little more attention as they dry out faster, at least in my hands.
I only use rockwool/jiffy, if I lack space for the pots for a few days. If there is room for the pots, I plant the germinated seed directly in the soil.

Rockwool cubes are to be soaked in water @ pH 5. I usually let the cubes equilibrate overnight.
