Was wondering when you guys and girls who use the large pots like 5gallon how do you water? Would you water till run off even when the plants just been potted up? It must take a while I'm thinking for you to have to water again?

After 30 days, usually 1 water, 2 days no,third day checking and giving....

I fully saturate the mix to the point of run-off before I transplant. I will give the young plant a little water at a time until it gets established. After that, when I used bagged mixes and fert regimens, I would water the plants enough to have some run-off. One can use the weight of the pot, or water when the mix is dry down to about an inch.

Now that I use TLO, I'm not looking for run-off and I have found that I can schedule a three day interval for a watering schedule. I water each plant every third day with an amount of water roughly equal to 1/10 the amount of mix... i.e. 1/2 gal of water for a 5 gal pot. As the plants mature and grow larger, the amount of water will need to be increased slightly based on the size of the rootballs. :peace:

You just gotta go by instinct if your not sure, I mean I haven't grown with lights so the speed of the soil drying out varies a lot depending on the weather so I just do it when it seems needed.
I tend to always saturate or at least give them a good watering then leave till its required again.

I would especially saturate though if they had just been potted up.
