Hey afn, I Have an LED question for you folks that know a thing about LED lighting.
I am growing in a 2'7''x2'7''x5'11'' Grow Lab Tent. I am wanting to do a 5 galon dwc bucket grow and have 4 inch duct fan to vent with a carbon filter.

The question is, How many Watts of LED lighting would be good for these dimentions to be optimal for growing 1 or 2 big plants? I am looking at different lights, and would like any feedback I can get from people that know. Also, is there too much led lighting for that space? I know i could fit a 600watt LED in there, but should I?

I def would say go with a black star 240 with some cfl for supplemental lighting an you'll be real good....
Yodabuds

I 2nd. Add a few hundred watts of mixed spectrum cfl and you'll be good. If that sounds daunting, a 125w dual spec bulb and socket is about 60 bucks shipped.

hey there briman .. just as a rule of thumb we reckon to get juicy buds, you need to look at 35 watts ACTUAL DRAW/ square foot .. so for an 80cm x 80cm tent (sorry i find this whole imperial measurements thing odd) like yours you want a 3 watt LED drawing 255 watts (or thereabouts) .. the 600 watt draw LED would almost definitely be overkill! If the Blackstar 240 had an actual draw of 240 watts, then it would fit the bill nicely, unfortunately its more likely to be around 180 ...

we really need some standardisation of terms in this business ...

I agree feroled, but as being in north america, its what we grew up with,(imperial measurement). Thanks for the input!! I am willing to pull the trigger on an LED, but not after I do some homework. We all work hard for our $$$, and I want to be right the first time. Thanks for your input, and am absorbing like a sponge!!!

Some solid advice on here bro just make sure you look at the actual power draw as some companies can just state the max power draw, LEDs don't run at full power mainly to extend lifespan, the lights I use (Grownorthern MS006) have a max draw of 270wand a min of 180w from a cold start but at a grow room temp they run at approx 200w one of these lights would rock your room. http://grownorthern.com/index.php?p...product_id=24&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=75

thanks J, nice light, but i'm wanting 300-400watt actual draw so I can grow some trees!!! So, i'm gonna need a bit more light penetration I think. I run auto and reg photo seeds and clones, so i might as well get what I feel is the best for my situation. I do appreciate the info, but am stil doing some surfing and homework on the situation.

Those penetrate 3-4 feet easy and coverage is decent too. They're actually pretty top of the line, and modular too. Get two if you have the coin, I would. Six please!
