Live Stoner Chat Led vs hps , your advice!

Yes please mate My loft is hot as shit atm and I think in the summer just going to get hotter with a 600w hps as well. I don’t mind diy opinion I’ll give it a go

First thing I have to ask is price range... the options are huge for DIY and the rabbit hole can go deep but what ever you build will be near half the price of the top of the range pre built units with the same parts.

ha ha keeping a loft grow cool/warm is one of my super powers, I grow in one too... Where do you draw your intake air from ?

Build it yourself... I've got 200w of cobs covering a 3x3 corner till I can build a full tent light for the whole 4x4. It'll have 9 cobs in a couple months running 450w. I just pulled 2.4 grams per watt on my shakedown run... I used to run a room with 3 1000w hps. You can grow some incredible stuff with hps, but led is THE future...

Look into quantum boards, looks like they are the latest rendition of high tech in the cob world.

nice one @Arthur mic dropping on those gram per watts :toke:... quantum boards is the next step, I'm doing my first run with them (2 at 240w) and seeing a big difference in plant structure and vigor.

TBH about 300 quid at the minute just shelled out on seeds , pots , soil etc for my 2nd run oh and a new tent had too cut mine down because I’m a prat and cant measure for shit and once opened they won’t take tent back . I’m intaking air from my loft now and sending out the roof was Intaking from outside but its been cold as lately..

Looks good I wanted to convert the whole loft but the Missus having none of it she thinks it’ll melt the snow on the roof or too much heat and the ol bill will come knocking . Just curing my first grow so give it few months and with the money I save not buying it she’ll change her mind so stuck with the tent now but was thinking of adding on it somehow as I have the old tent with rip in it

Inside the tent is 2 degrees f above room temp... led REALLY makes a heat difference. Tent is the same temp as the rest of house, nothing special...

@Slater ez fella can you chuck me some knowledge on these cobs when you got some time mate cheers

Sorry @GreenGardener been busy week... 300 notes would get you a great starting kit for DIY and I would recommend some Quantum broads by HLG, the 260w kit and build on that over time. here's the link - https://www.todogrowled.com/gb/17-hlg-quantum-boards... Its the best tech out there, you can't get better for the price.
What I can also recommend is watching all of Growmau5 vids on youtube, they will give you an understanding of COB led lighting and DIY. Its great viewing and a must watch, I can't express that enough. A gold mine in info that would take an age to type... Also you will find the Grow Round table again a must watch.

As long as the extraction air is being removed from the loft I doubt your going to melt the snow, you have to be open growing with a few 1000w hps to create enough heat... Through the last lot of snow I was extracting into my loft, ambient loft temps about 20c. Snow was still on the roof no probs... I think my roof might have melted the quickest though ;) ... I draw my air of the house so I can utilise the heating in the winter and in the summer I get cool air from a dark cupboard. But still in the full heat of the summer I have to blow cool air from the house through the loft with a giant fan. If you can insulate and board out the loft I would then a lot of heating issue's would be easier to control. If not insulate the tents with foam board, that's what I have had to do, I rent.

Thanks bud I’ll be watching through those tomorrow .
While you’re about I need you advice if you don’t mind on my first harvest I’ve put it in jars after 7 day bag dry and although the hay smells gone it don’t smell or taste the greatest I know I have to cure but how long until it smells like the fuckers who stank out my loft I burp it twice a day and have the jars at 62-64 humidity also have added Boveda packs . I don’t mind waiting a month but just need to know I ain’t screwed it

I added half to the jars wetter when stalks bent and half when stalks snapped so I can get some knowledge/experience from drying seems a pain already :)
