I have had many problems with my led lenses melting on me. I run my leds 18hrs a day. Ive sent my LEDs back to the company 3 times with good customer service. Has anyone had this problem?? what could cause this?? how do i fix this issue?

sorry, the part keeps that keeps melting is the lense over the led chip, the brand is blackdog, out of colorado.they have stood by the warrenty every time. also i have 2 400 watt mh and hps lights.

also im fully aware they dont have bulbs ,company tried to get me to upgrade to their phyto max so maybe i might. tell you guys this, they do produce a little more trycohomes, and great growth.

Problem is your paying for a good warranty and not a good light. Can't find any specifics on the leds used bedside "top bin chips". Top bin what? Epistar? No total ppf output, just the usual mumbo jumbo, our light is the best, etc

The red flag is the "check out the 7oz grow video" for our 215w light.

7*28.3= 198g. Under 1gpw is what you'd expect from HPS or generic epi panels. Of course they want you to buy their $3/watt lights. I'd say grab some cheap epi panels from eBay for around 1/6th that price per watt.($65 for ~135w at the wall) and when the leds fry it's time for a replacement anyway. (Leds age just like hid bulbs)

Or go for a light that's known to be a quality, high efficiency light. Tasty led probably has something to fit whatever size space you have. And of course alot of DIY options(and pre-wired kits) come in cheaper for higher efficiencies than you can buy currently.

Ya i know, thanks for the reply, i got two 400 watt hps mh setups , all hortilux ,i just kick in the blackdog in flower ,in tandem with the 400s. what do ya think bout advanced led or platinum.

Hey geddy, did you see we actually have Platinum LED in our Live Vendors section right now? We are doing a 6 month trial and they've offered up several panels to our staff to help test them out (for good or bad,) and the journals and section can be found here:

It is LITERALLY just starting, so if you want and have the time to spend, you can see first hand examples from trusted members on here! We don't want to sugar coat it, so if they work they work, if not, we'll offer constructive, non-flamey feedback. I believe we also have a few members that already were using their lights if you try do a search for them! Good luck bud!

I'll chime in for platinum. Run away. Any company with ridiculous claims like this is probsbly trying to rip you off.

P300, 180w led to replace 400w HPS? Let's break it down to PPF output for the 400w HPS, 682 unreflected, 20% loss to reflector, 5% average bulb age(replacing every 2000hours)ppf of 518 on the canopy. 2.87umol/j would need to be the efficiency of platinum, or around 60% wall efficiency...

Well let's check what data they provide to back this amazing claim up.... what a surprise, none. No specific on leds used, no total light output, whether calculated or put in a sphere. A classic single point par reading, some misinformation about cannabis spectrums(green light actually only has a 15% lower absorption rate). The spectrum they show looks great for growing algae though. :) Mcree action spectrum, energy weighted, is what the cannabis industry uses. Not DIN.
