Lighting Light distance from plants? (3500 k)

I dont know if you can tell but I adjust the height of my lights to the plants closest it.

I definitly run higher with autos than photos. With photos you can keep them very close and they enjoy it. It’s almost like growing 2 different things all together. 12 hours of lights vs 24 hours is the biggest factor. When you understand that it makes it all easier.

@komplex180 If you write Misphesto they will advise how to order their super soil. I did a couple of days ago when they reopened. Cheers.

Keep us updated! I’m really interested in getting my heights dialed in. Haven’t started my next grow yet. Waiting on some supersoil yo get back in stock

I get it now I think :LOLStoned: photos can withstand the lights being closer because they actually need the more intense light due to the 12 hrs on 12 hrs off. With autos you can run the lights a little higher because of the longer hrs and the light doesn't need to be as intense due to the increased hrs it's ran.

That’s it. Plants don’t have a calander to look at or a watch to keep time. They don’t know when today ends or when tomorrow begins. At the end of the day you want the same total amount of light hitting the leaves. Longer hours works out to lower intensity. It’s called the daily light integral.

You can also look at it like this, if you drive 50mph for an hour or you drive 25mph for 2 hours both ways work out to 50miles.

Basically every plant is different and certain plants finish differently. There are also plenty of factors that go into the final product. This is why I’m checking my harvests closely along with par meter readings just to find the sweet spot. If we give our plants more wattage with a smaller return and less wattage for a bigger return or vice versa I want to find that out and prove it. So far less light over autos has been doing extremely well.

If I learned this I have you to thank for it. I'm doing what you recommended and keeping my lights at 24" on the flowering plants. I don't know if you or anyone else has paid much attention to the plant in the center of the room if you look close at my lights the way I have them hanging this plant has no direct light over her for that fact neither does the Blue Cheese yet both plants are the tallest and biggest

During veg they seem to withstand much more light. Strain dependent too. I’d suggest keeping 2 plants at different heights and watching each for changes. Yes I noticed the middle ones. They are all blowing up.
