Lighting Light Distance???

I am growing PKA, and I am on day 20. My girl is 5" tall RN. I am using 250 hps, on 20/4 light cycle. I am concerned about getting the most optimal lighting for my girl. Here lately, I have had the light distance between 14" and 16" away from my plant. I have seen this grow chart. https://www.autoflower.org/f43/light-distance-using-250-hps-start-finish-16537.html But I just want to find a good medium. Is it better to have the light as close to my plant as I can, or have the light up high? Should I just use the hand method? I just want to make sure I get even node development, and the biggest plant possible with the light I am using. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!! Thanks!!!!! P.S. Does my plant look ok right now??? Any feedback would be great! Thanks Again!!!!

The hand method is one that works well for me.

Yo , Id say your doing ok mate by the look of your plants, they look nice and healthy.
I think that chart you have is a excellent guide but personally when flowering , as low as you can go, i use 270W LED's and the closest i had my light to a grow was two inches, it bleached the top bud pure white! lol, still was nice smoke tho just weird.

yup hold your hand at or just above your canopy and if it's to hot to keep your hand there it's to hot for your plant's.,.....

I would suggest as close as possible without burning them, blow a huge fan right at the place between the plant and light then you can get it closer, but from the pictures looks like you are doing just fine!

I'm using T5's & have been keeping about 2 inch from top canopy. Your gals look fine, they are developing a good root system at the moment. Give them about 2 more weeks and you'll see a complete change in them. Best of luck
