Light for seedlings

New to the forum and new to indoor growing. And to autoflowers. I have 4 NL sprouted seeds ready to go into pots. Lighting is 800w Cobb in a 3x3 tent.
When I started seedlings for outdoors, I used a dome and cfl lights. With this first attempt, I’m going to mimic what happens in nature. Full light @ 30 inches to start. It’s an experiment at this point.
Has anyone else tried this with seedlings? Full light from the start?

hi and @Kyote with so many makes and models of lights,its hard to give exact heights.size of tent/cupboard and whats on the walls makes a difference. most say 24-36" but that curfuddles me i work in cms.sadly its mostly polay about with it and find what suits
a lotta lights dont have switches and knobs so they full blurt from the get go

Welcome Kyote.
I run my apollo 12 at full with seedlings but have to keep 30 inches away or more, and they tend to get long stems. I would suggest a 45 w led starter light. (cheap) for first couple weeks. 3x3 may be a little small for 4 nl's.. What size are your pots?

NL for the win! heya @Kyote and to afn! yup, NL is me #1 all-time fave strain :smoking: but, that duz not mean it'z me fave to grow lol me two current NL girlz are on day 117 today & have had a ruff go, so... but anyhoo, me lazy & old school and start me own seedlingz out under good ol' cfl'z, but that'z jus me also got an auto kush on day 8 today that'z sittin bout 3-4" under two 100w equiv 6500k cfl'z & she'z luvin life so far contrary to what some believe, lil seedlingz don't need a lotta light when first startin out, and tbh, will veg like crazy up til preflower under, u gueesed it, cfl'z jus me own 2 ctz, take w/salt plz & anything else u need, jus give a holler

With my Quantum board I put I put it 60 inches away and lower it as it developes but that is for Quantum boards. Other lights I put it 40 inches away when seedlings and adjust accordingly. But that is just one way of many to get them to fruition start and feed by day ten to get them big. light feed.

Yea most likely will be crowded. I’ve grown NL photos outdoors and they were big. Using 3 gallon pots with promix organic soil cut with 50% perlite. Figure the pots will keep the size down a bit on them. I may end up giving one or two away if it gets too crowded. I grow for the medicine and the enjoyment and keeping it organic.
If they show stretch, I’ll drop the light closer. Skinny legs and all was a great book but not good for the gurls

this time I grew in 5 gal pots under the apollo from start. I had to build soil up around a couple because they started to fall over from the stretch to light.
any closer then 30 it got light stress . All good now. check out my current grow in my sig if you wish.
