New Grower light height.

should lights be as close to a seedling as possible without burning or raised? i'm reading differing opinions and would like to hear first hand experiences. thanks! i love this place.

hello gbd!!!! well me personally i like to put them low enough where i can put my hand underneath for about 1 min without it burning....then as they got a little older about 12 to 16 inches worked well for me

That depends on your light. HPS and MH are a lot hotter than say T5 or LED, or even cfl for that matter. I am not exactly sure about HPS and MH but the others can be about a foot or so away while they're just popping out and until they get a little older, then you can move T5 or cfl right up to it as long as your temps and air flow are good. I believe there is a point of being too close with the LEDs though. Hope this helps.

check my grow in the nerw growers forum i took tons of pics....its under russian rocket fuel blue himilaya disel.....i used both a 400 watt mh for veg, then switched over to 400 watt hps....used the formula i stated in my prior post worked well for me.....squid is also correct need more info ,what type of lights are u using

Like squid said with cf ls they can be pretty close about 2 inches if I'm not mistaken,and if i am someone will chime in shortly and correct me...hope this helps good growing karma sent ya way bro

i've got a 240w blackstar as well as cfls, just undecided. i may use a combination, or keep it tidy with just the blackstar.

what's the issue with led's being too close?

There is an issue of over saturation and bleaching. Muddy is the man to ask about this. Or Seymour.
