Hi guys...

Which light schedule do you use to get the best from your Autos?

18/6? 24/0?

Do they need a dark period?

Would switching to 12/12 for an Autos flowering period ever be beneficial or is it a case of more light = better results/better yields?

Gooba,

personally I use 20/4 as a little down-time must do us all good and it saves me 28 hours of electricity per week. (I am a tight-wad).

12/12 is only used with photoperiods to induce flowering. Auto's love lotsa light.

Good luck pal, eP.

Some strains do better under certain light/dark periods than others. Sometimes its on the seed bank for that particular strain, often you can get what's best from the seed bank/breeder,

Other than that, I believe its a matter of preference and habit. Personally, I don't think for the most part there is much of a difference between 18/4 and 24/0 other than energy consumption.

I grow under 24/0 because that's what I did before.

I usually do 20/4 there's some science out there that say plants need a break so they don't de-sensitize there photo receptors. My last grow I had a plant that was Mostly Northern lights. I was having some flowering issues then i read somewhere that northern lights takes advantage of longer dark periods. It did seem to improve flowering qualities. But It maybe would have done the same thing light full bore; Autos can exhibits some weird traits.

Cheers everyone. I started on 18/6 so I guess I'll finish on that. Saving money is always good & the girls certainly aren't showing any signs of growing slowly lol (around 1.5 inches a day at the moment) so i guess they're happy.
