New Grower Lighting??

Update:

I got 2 new CFLs. Both are bigger than the last 24w I had talked about. Cant remember the exact size but they are pretty massive and put off tons of light!! I really want a nice LED panel in there though, maybe tax time! :booya:

Also, I ordered my seeds!!

i had a piss poor germ ration from short seeds! i got some him blue diesel and i was very upset!
that AKR on the other hand is a fucking monster! it will bust your ass!

If you plan to use the entire space, you need a very minimum of 8000 lumens... 500 lumens/sq ft (approx 6-23w cfl's). In reality, if you want a decent yield, you need 3/4 times that much. Home Depot sells a 4 bulb, 2'x4' T-5 grow light for about $125... I use one of those in a 2'x4' tent... 20,000 lumens... you really need two of those or the equivalent to fully light your cab.

Bottom line... You might be able to grow a couple decent plants in your cab with your current lighting situation... I had to start on a budget too, and it's better to get a good yield on a couple plants, than to try and stretch the resources too thin... You can always upgrade as you go, like I did.

Thanks, I think the light set up will def work for me at the moment. I am definitely going to upgrade as I move along. The lights I have right now are 2 42w and a 24w. All are 2700k. In the first 2 weeks in also going to using a 42w 5500k which will take the place of the smaller 24w and then removed and the 24w 2700k put in for max flower. I will probably replace that little 24w with another 42w.

Note: I've also got a 13w orange cfl and will obtain a red, and black light. They are actually surprisingly bright!! I plan to throw them in after the grow is up and running as a little experiment!! :twist:

New to the whole forum scene but your thread was the 1st I read and we too are in the same boat far as lights my setup is 4 23watt 2700k cfl and 2 45watt 6500k... I have 3 350watt 5500k mh bulbs if I can afford to I wanna get a ballast or DIY it and throw 1 of those in as well... Feels like I'm rambling anyways GOOD LUCK BRO!!! I wish you much success...

Hey herbin, welcome brotha!! As you have read, I'm new to the whole indoor thing as well with only a few shitty outdoor grows under my belt! I'm ready to do this the right way and show people just how easy it can truly be!! Just glancing at what you posted on my thread, you really won't need much of the 6500k as these thing flower at such and early rate. From newby to newby, keep one 6500k and replace the other with a 2700k for the first 10-14 days then throw as much 2700k as possible at them. That's my plan!! :thumbs:
