New Grower lighting

hi i am a new grower and this is my first grow ,
i have a 4ft by 2ft by 5ft, gow tent,
6inch cooltube ceramic light, 400 watt hps,
i was just wondering is the lightning sificent for the size of
my tent, and also could i boost it up to 600watt just by replacing the
bulb or do i have to replace the ballast too, the reason i am asking this
i have 5 sour diesel autos, this is the 10 week coming up they look
healthy but i think i could use more lighting, to me the buds toward the middle
of the plant and the bottom are not compressed like the top,
does that mean i should of lollipopd it when it was young,
i would appreciate the help

i know that they are very close to harvesting, the upper buds say that it is close
could i add another week or two to increase the size of the little ones on the bottom
most of the trichomes are cloudy, some little amber, but if i harvest now i will have alot
of little buds, from the bottom, is there anythiny i can do to give my buds a extra last boost,
i feed them with dyna bloom, 1/2 tspn gal. water, also can you tell me why does the buds smell like hay
i took a sample, after i cure it will i get the potency i need and the smooth smoke
i would appreciate the help

You can always drop a few CFLs in there. That is what I have done to augment my LED. An inexpensive cord, plug in socket, you can hand two or three of them.

The more light the better as long as heat doesnt become an issue:smokebuds: 400 W in that space should do the trick though.... you will get some lower buds that wont be as big or dense as the tops, that be called the popcorn buds, in my case, the ones I smoke test when the jar gets low:stoneslap:

I have the same tent with a 600 watt hps.

IMHO, it's too much. I am going to get a 400 watt ballast.

I plan on having 2 plants in that tent. One big one, and another started a few weeks later.
I also use larger pots. Don't worry, you'll get the hang of it, it takes
a few grows before you get used to it.
