New Grower Lights and plant size

Hi guys and girls,

I had only really grown dinafems critical jack under a 600w and aswell as being tall the plant also grew wide. I have now also got a second tent which is a 60x60 space with a 250w light. I have fitted inside there 4 devils no problem...some of the devils under my 600w however are the same strain but wouldnt be able to fit 4 of them inside. I have also used my 250 before just to bring on a single critical jack before and could only fit that 1 girl in.

I know the more watts the bigger the plant will get but some strains do grow big and wide...my question is if i put 4 girls under a 250 inside the 60x60 space will the light power just make the plants grow smaller and be perfect for that size.

I wanna try 4 dinafems blue cheese inside my small tent inside 6.5l pots

I have a 60cm x 60cm space with a 250w HPS too! ^_^
I wouldn't put four in there - they'll get too big and will probably all suffer. I have fit 3 small autoflowers in - but it was a struggle. Take a look at my sig - Although it's a photoperiod, it was only vegged for 6 weeks.

Personally i will only put 2 autoflowers or 1 photoperiod in my space - hope this helps a little!

Hi blue, cheers for the reply. I wasnt sure as i know dinafems strains tend to be big girls. I just thought maybe if the light was less they wouldnt grow as big. How much did you pull from the 3 autoflowers? I have seen a few people stick 4 cream caramels inside and pull decent yields infact really impressive in some cases but im trying to stay away from sweet seeds lol.

Hey Ninja, no worries ^_^

I don't weigh my buds as it all just goes into the jars to be smoked, but i got 3 tall (spaghetti sized) mason jars full so probably just over 3 ounces. If you get single cola type phenos three will fit nicely, but if you get a big bush pheno - something will suffer as the light wont penetrate through the jungle ^_^

I suppose you could always see how it's going with four and if you feel like its too crowed in there, just chop one - but I never give up on a plant and on my next run will stick 2 automazars in and just train them to fill out the space, this gnereally gets me just as much bud as i would have had with three untrained and is a lot easier on the watering and up keep.

Thing is I understand bud will suffer but as autos can't veg long won't it be better to stick 4 in and even if its a slight overcrowd they don't have to produce as much on each plant?

Would like to be hitting no less than 4oz from the 250w tent. Have seen alot of grows do better than this but with sweet seeds strains and I refuse to grow them lol

Why not put 1 or 2 of them in smaller pots? Your pot size will affect not only the ability for a plant to grow BIGGER, but it affects the maximum size the plant can grow overall. I have a sun room full of potted plants that my Mrs. tends and almost every single one has grown to the size of the pots they are in. If I transplanted them to bigger pots; they would all grow bigger and fill the size of the new pot. That also means I have to take into consideration the area around them (big ol' ferns can shade out smaller plants) or if I plan on moving them some day (I'm sure anyone reading this that has moved a 20+ gallon potted plant will know how much of a (back) pain that is ;-) You cater your growing conditions to your plants; not the other way around. Don't let your herb tell you who the boss is.

If space is your concern, I'd say go with a little smaller pot for the plant on one or two rather than sacrificing light or sacrificing a plant. You can also low stress train your branches in creative ways. Make a simple trellis. etc etc. Good luck buddy!

I went crazy-go-nuts on my autos and grew 25+ plants in a 4 foot by 4 foot grow tent under a 1000W HPS. I was recommended not to do this (by members on here), but the beans were germinated and I was feeling particularly full of piss and vinegar. And it worked. It totally worked. Walked away with over a pound on harvest (there was a few photo plants in there too, albeit.) I've got cured weight results on the 2nd page of the journal too; so you can see what I yielded in the pot sizes. Hope this helps!

I've seen 4 big devils grown no problem under a 250w but critical jack seems to grow alot wider. I defiantly know 4 6.5L pots produce smaller plants. I'm just thinking more plants means you don't have to hope in them all producing as much. Have seen aload of grows with 4 plants inside a 60x60 tent. I don't think dinafem would fit though. Might have to look at buddha seeds blue cheese as its defiantly a smoke I wanna try.
