I am a new member and although I have been growing (male Indica lol) since I was a boy, I have not much experience nor have a green thumb.
I am of Bohemian descent (Czech Republic now) and have been trying like mad to get a Pure Southern Bohemian (or just Czech) Ruderalis for treatment of my seizures caused by Complex PTSD. I have lots of old grower friends thankfully to help me, but obtaining Low THC/High CBD strains in in Oregon where it is all now legal is still very hard.
The strain I finally found is I believe a descendent of "Finola" (Fin-314) which I obtained 11 seeds from "Old School Growers" seed bank in B.C. Canada sold as "Victory Autofloering Industrial Hemp". I wrote to Dr Jace Callaway who was the original breeder of "Finola" and he took a look at the link to the se3ed bank I sent him and feels strongly that it is indeed an Offspring. It's a Russian Ruderalis from the Kirov region of Russia and was saved and then grown in Finland to create a strain that would due better in more northern latitudes. It has a built in "I.Q. Test" in it as it's said not even an "Idiot" can kill these sturdy lil Ruderalis's and I passed the test by killing 8 out of the 11 seeds due to me forgeting to re-dampen the paper towels that they were sprouting in! OUCH! I must be a Genius since an Idiot cannot manage such a feat! lol
However out of the three that survived my black thumb of Death, two of them took off like a prize race horse and one was very "Runty-Stunty" and was very very small. I put it under a small bank of T-5's in my shop after a week of doing nothing outside and it instantly exploded! I was so distraught that I may have killed off all the potential males which I needed to pollinate the girls for more seed stock that I was even considering mating them with any male indica I could find.
I planted them on July 3rd and like clockwork all three were right on "Finola's" scheduled Time table! Yesterday was day 25 and both sativa like outdoor plants were showing their sex with lots of small hairs. The "Runty-Stunty" one I call "Lil' One" which is now three times as large and doesn't resemble the other two tall spindly girls is showing it's Nuts today clearly!!! Yay!
I have a very serious problem now though...
My close neighbors have large crops and are well aware of my "Ditch Weed" and have made it VERY Clear that I MUST safely contain my Boy! These lil Ruderalis's are so small that I could easily finish them out in a 2' x 4' x 4' box with hepa filters and the t-5s etc. My "Lil' One" is by far the best Cannabis Plant I have ever seen and I want to save as much pollen from him for back breeding purposes to try and get his fantastic Phenotype! He is very lush and fleshy like a Jimson Weed or AC/DC and I suspect is very high in CBD! I will have him lab tested after he is done.
I am also planning on using him to pollinate female clones of AC/DC because high CBD strains like that are impossible to get any regular seeds of or males for breeding purposes.
After I get a good harvest of seeds from the "Finola' and also if I am able to breed AC/DC with it I would be happy to share the seeds. This strain I am growing is as close to a pure Ruderalis as is possible to obtain on the commercial market! I have spent months trying to obtain a Pure Ruderalis and even been tempted to go to my Grandparents Villages to collect seeds personally from Eastern Europe. The Ancestors of this strain are K-313 and K-315 from the Mountain region of Russia and were grown for seeds and oil unlike typical Industrial Hemp cultivars which were pure Sativa for Fiber. It is mostly pure Ruderalis but I suspect some Sativa in the mix from inter breeding prior to Stalin "Relocating" the small group who were cultivating it up until WW II. It's what Neville from Sensiseeds used for his "Russian Ruderalis Hybrids" such as "Ruderalis x Indica" and "Ruderalis x Skunk #1". This is the source before any other Non Ruderalis Hybids.
Yes I do agree that it doesn't have the True Ruderalis traits like the very wrinkled and tiny hard seeds. But I am beginning to suspect that for breeding purposes since it was bred for a human food source of protein in poverty stricken Russia during it's hay day that that may have been br3ed for the softer and thinner husk of it's seeds. It's human nutritional values are off the charts and has become the most important Industrial Hemp crop of northern Europe and Canada because of it's Ruderalis traits for seed production and autoflowering!
For a medical strain it's 20:1 ratio is stunning and even though is 4% CBD that is still in the catagory of "High CBD" medically. Crossing it with a female AC/DC which also falls into the "Hemp: category of less than 3% THC and extremely high CBD of 27% seems like a good match.
My goal as a novice breeder is to obtain and stabilize the Super lusg traits of "Father- "Lil' One" and maintain the pure "Finola" traits of the Russian Ruderalis in addition to breeding another strain of a Hybrid with it with AC/DC to stabilize a very high CBD/low THC Autoflower for those who need the relief from seizures without the THC.
Like I said I am more than happy to share these seeds and the strains once I can get a supply up and running. The Pure Ruderalis for those who don't want to add Lowryder strains into their mix or those who seek an autoflower strain of AC/DC. I strongly feel that these p[ants are sacred medicine and want the sources to be obtainable for free.
I suffer greatly from Seizures and PTSD and high THC "Medicine" aggravates my condition. Children cannot develop in a healthy way stoned out of their minds. Parents cannot sleep at night watching their precious Lil' Ones suffer from conditions like Dravet Syndrome and getting them wasted on Weed as the only effective treatment.
I love a good buzz off of William's Wonder (I live 30 mins from the source in Southern Oregon) as much as the next guy. But I also need releif from my seizures and need to be clear headed and functional too during the day. I love my "Lil' Rudy" and love the fact that for a thousand years my family has used it to treat our PTSD since we are always being invaded by those pesky Hapsburgs from Austria or German's to the north! Grrr! lol
