The Dutch Passion Lemon Z girls got thirsty yesterday at 89⁰F (32⁰C) and flipped leaves sideways to conserve water. The leaves straightened out after a good drink:

While I'm waiting for the outdoor photos to flower I was wondering... What triggers them to flower in the tropics where it's 12/12 all year? At 11⁰N latitude where Colombian Gold originated the length of day only varies plus or minus a half hour from 12/12...
It’s probably the reason some CG cultivars have 22+ week flowering times….they’re essentially flowering their whole lives….(I think there’s a highland phenotype that is crazy long flowering)….

It’s also why they have those long spear like colas… lotsa time to stack flowers….

2 different plants i started while others were flowering so they were 12/12 from day 1 and they stayed in veg for like 5-6 weeks til i lowered the light period by an hour and then went into bloom within a week!

Have you got saucers on them @Mara Cachafa ...I saw you saying you were battling the heat...and small pots.

I had all my photos in 5 gall pots with big saucers.... :watering: ...when you water add an extra couple of pints of water into the saucer... keeps them Cooler...plus it cuts the watering times....:headbang:

very good question. Perhaps it is the direction or speed of change in daylength rather than absolute? Dunno, I have never run into an explanation.

Afternoon @PinkyNotTheBrain :bighug: @Lil Dab :bighug: 12.30 here...and we are 55C outdoors already....

Girls wattered....:watering:... shopping done.....Gus and the vet next.......:pass:...he hates the freaking vet.......:pighug:
Our mutt still loves vet visits - they give her treats. She is the most food oriented mutt I have ever met, and I very much doubt that she has been hungry in her life. She would do anything for cheese. :crying:

@Olderfart :thanks: :pighug: there'z actually a couple diff kindz of empress tree, and they're fairly common here, as they basically grow wild everywhere & are considered an invasive speciez....u mighta missed what i was tellin Mossy one day about em, in that a) they're the fastest growing tree in the world, and b) their wood is very valuable, becuz it's the lightest, yet densest wood there is....in the picz below, u can see my old half-dead pine tree that'z been there for eonz, and the empress jus started growin right beside it 4 summerz ago....as it growz, i've been slowly trimmin away the old pine, to where one day, i'll be able to jus git rid of it altogether, as the empress has huge leavez & will be a great shade tree....mine has already grown about 30" so far this year & this is only itz fourth year of growing :yoinks: :headbang: ppp
