Evening good people. I had to show ID to buy two Bic lighters. Is that nation wide?

I ordered a box of 50 bics from Amazon last month for less than a buck a lighter. A couple days after receiving them, I got an email from Amazon saying they suspected the lighters were counterfeit, and they issued a full refund and recommended I dispose of the counterfeits. Umm...OK....thanks Amazon!
