was amazed how easily you could see the path the storm took by the destruction on the ground!
I was part of Joint Task Force Katrina, after the hurricane…..

I was in a helicopter a few days after the storm (but before the next one)… and as we gained altitude my perspective shifted…. I no longer saw the flood as a flood…. I saw that these were not flood waters, but that the ocean had stretched several miles inland, and stayed. It was a moment of terror!!! You start to think of all the possibilities…what if the storm was bigger, lasted longer…. How far would the ocean continue inland? It was very eerie, seeing a continuous sheet of water with a city sticking out of it in the near, and then it just continues to the horizon, into the Gulf of Whatever The Fuck We’re Calling It Today…..
