I thought hair takes a very long time to break down?

as in damn near forever - think what is left in the mummy caskets, what is left in wolf poo, etc. etc. It is just about the last biological thing to go, other perhaps than teeth. At minimum, it will be really, really slow for the micros to get their teeth into it, and until they do, the plants will have to wait. IMO.

There’s people that use living soil inside, re-ammended over and over….others have no-till gardens…

Thats true too, so maybe there is a use. I just threw out first thoughts. I certainly dont talk from experience. So I can be swayed with the right info on technique.

It specifically says unwashed hair in that google description so assuming the nutrients come from something absorbed into the hair and not the hair itself!

I used to empty my barbers waste basket and throw it in the compost pile. There was a leather shop that would let me take their trimmings and I would run it thru my chipper shredder. Made leather fluff. That shit would heat up some compost.

Hmmm, sounds like my dog's game of fetch. I throw the ball, the hound roars off after it, picks it up while looking in my direction, then drops it and sits. So I have to "fetch" it and throw it again. Sigh. She does make up her own games...
