The argument in the UK is pay them a decent wage in the first place........tips should be Extras for them....

Last job waiting tables was prob 15 or so yrs ago and servers still make the same $2.15 they did when i was doing the job! If we had state income tax here i woulda probably received a bill every 2 weeks vs a measly paycheck!

In the UK there is a minimum wage and if they don't stick to it they will get prosecuted.

We have had a couple of places the take the servers tips.........that is normally sorted as soon as the public find out about it....and boycott the business..

I'm sure it was taken through court and it is against the law now too.
