I thought of all this but my garage is built so close to the property line they had to file a variance to build it in the first place and told me it's very unlikely to approve a second variance but they would take my money and let me know. So I'd just be stuck with a hole in my garage more then likely

I had a 14' Valco aluminum boat with a 15 Hp motor. I took it out in the ocean and it was fine with the big rollers but I was on a lake once with 2 foot wind waves that were terrifying. If I went too fast into them they would break over the bow on a dip, if I went to slow they would break over the transom. I was never so glad to get off that lake!

Sounds similar to today I got a 20' skeeter with a 225hp and on the way back we were riding the rollers in and were doing great until we were almost there. I was going about as slow as I could and keep it on plane when we came down off one the front speared right through the next one and swamped the boat that when I said that was enough

I was once in 19 foot seas in a 19 foot boat, in the Chesapeake Bay…. We flew off the top of one of the waves and one of my passengers broke his pelvis when we landed (he came down on someone’s weapon)…. Then we got to do a medical litter (like a stretcher) transfer to a ship in the same 19 foot seas…..talk about scary…..I’m trying to hold the boat steady right next to a ship, while we bob up and down with the swells and waves, while a guy that’s strapped down to a litter gets handed from my boat to the ship…. If the timing wasn’t exact, or I couldn’t hold the boat steady, into the angry ocean that dude would have gone…to a certain death….
