I remember being in wage talks and the boss said to me some of the workers take the statutory sickness benefit as an extension to their annual leave time.....and they did......

And beyond by July August there will be guys with no time left and still taking days off. I hate calling in always feel guilty most the time I have to get sent home sick.

Yeah...must admit I was exactly the same.....I'd have to be dying not to make it to work....but then came COVID and you realise if you go into work sick..you are ground zero..
COVID became the health Cheats charter...coz if you phoned in and said I Think I have COVID bosses could do nothing but say..stay away....

BTW..when hubby got this new bug he said everyone in the town is passing it back on to each other...but he's followed the same pattern..

Down hard for a week or so..start to feel a bit better..then boom you are back to square one..sick again...

Yeah covid changed everything definitely made calling in more acceptable. I still hate doing it but will more then ever nowadays. I also think it has to do with getting older too less fucks given
