View attachment 1776908 Do you find you have that effect on people generally....?...asking for a friend...:yoinks:..a worried friend...

I feel the UK is on the verge of a funeral revolution. I keep reading news about people opting for the no service funeral..and everyone of them is absolutely relieved about cutting the funeral and any service out..

It's just so much easier on the family left behind..:headbang:..and a third of the price...:pass:..

@Mañ'O'Green did you say the way to check for glucose spikes was to eat..then check 2 hours later...?...

Tell your friend yes, at our age every conversation with a friend or relative could be the last one. So just keep talking while you can

No you want to look at the glucose spike for a new food at 30 minutes then at one hour, two hours and 4 hours. Simple carbs like candy will spike very rapidly and fall just as fast. Combination carbs like a cookie will spike rapidly and fall over a longer period of time. Complex carbs like a baked potato will spike slowly and last a long time. The French fries I ate the other day kept my BG high for six hours. The thing is everyone's body will respond differently so I kept a log when I was first diagnosed with diabetes. Now since I need to use insulin more often I have to relearn everything because the response is so different when using fast acting insulin. It is so much easier with the CBG system. Try to eat the complex carbs early in the day because activity helps to burn them off. It is also very beneficial to eat some protein with your complex carbs as it slows down the absorption. Meat and vegetables only late in the day.

You fingers will hate you from all of the testing. Stick the sides of your fingers not the tip, it hurts less. This also gives you twenty sites to poke before you have to reuse a spot.
